I was just wondering how to join pvc pipe you theres no ridges or nasty divits. How do the pros do it? Shocked

try butting 2 socket ends together with a short peice in between, you wont even notice the join when you ride over it, or make a dowl for the inside and file the edges that but together

I think I used 4" on mine, its been a while. I got a union connector for the next size smaller pvc and it slid right inside the 4". I screwed it inplace on one side and left it unsecured on the other (my slider is portable, I have to break it down). I did file the two edges down where they meet just incase, and it worked great.

just cut a slit in the same size pipe you used for the surface. cut about 1/4" out squeeze them together and slide the piece inside the other piece of pvc. easy and cheap.
