I have a 3.8L 185 hp i/o and I'm looking for a better hole shot, and quicker plane. I have a 3 blade alum prop now, not sure of the size or pitch. How do I measure what size and pitch my current prop is? I'm looking at 4 blade SS props, I found these http://www.wholesalemarine.com/p/MIC-993203-102/ anyone know anything about them? Seems like a good price for a SS prop?

Also, does anyone know anything about those whale tail things they put on the outdrive? What effect it has on plane time, wake, ect?

Thanks

Yeah, I read that in the i/o thread, but is it 200 dollars better? I could probably swing it if I didn't have to get some board racks before the season.

Another question occurred to me, is putting a tower on going to change the plane time? Would it plane quicker or slower with the higher tow point?
