Just wanted to re-visit this thread and see how it was holding up.
I've been searching and searching for the right materials. I've found plenty of rubber matting that would work well. The problem is finding the right adhesive. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

Dave, the matting is still holding up great, snapped some shots tonight. It looks a little dirty cause my shoes were dusty and I havent cleaned off the pad yet...I am very impressed with how well its been. We have been out quite a bit and it doesnt even move. _________________ How much work would a network work if a network could network? |

SilverMustang35, still looks good. As an alternative to even fastening it to the deck with adhesive, have you considered snaps?
My brother has this exact thing on the back of his Four Winns. The rubber mat was an option and it came with snaps in it. You just have to install the snaps on the deck and you're good to go. It stays snapped with no problem and is still removable anytime he wants.
Just a suggestion instead of adhesive. _________________

Thanks pet575,
Hmm, never thought about it honestly.....may be in revision 2 lol...the only thing I dont know if how well the snap would hold to the matting....hull too since the back platform is more dotted than smooth...def. something to consider...the adhesive is working great and dries good and is uv resistant as far as I can see..Im very impressed how far $30 including adhesive went _________________ How much work would a network work if a network could network? |

I'm going this route too on my MB, the padding now sucks. Hard on the knees and ugly.
But double side tape doesn't sound like it will last, especially when our deck is under water a good portion of the time. The heavy duty factory adhesive on mine is giving out. Has anyone used/suggest any other adhesives that might work? |

Rhawn, somebody had mentioned putting the double stick down and then silicone sealing around it so water doesnt get in and the tape holds. May be worth a shot I dont know. Our swim deck isnt in the water much, so different world for sure. I know the others use 3m double sided tape and silicone, but the tape I used and the 3m are both comparable I believe... _________________ How much work would a network work if a network could network? |

This thread inspired me to do the same to the back of my Larson. It doesn't have a swim platform but it does have a swim step. It is soo slippery when I am putting my wakeboard on. I will let you know how it goes.
SilverMustang35, So all you used was double sided tape? Just double checking. |

Hey Eric, it is an easy thing to do if you have the patience for sure. It is so much better now putting on wakeboards and helping other people, instead of sliding off the back lol.
As far as sticking it, yup, double sided duck tape from Walmart. Clean the padding and swim platform with alcohol. Heat up the double sided tape and the padding and platform. When I did it, it wasnt summer so I had to get it pretty warm. Make sure you get the tape warm enough so that the glue sticks the best. the platform being warm and matting warm will help it all stick well...take a roller pin and roll it on once its placed. Also walk back and forth on it to push it down and let it sit for a little. Weight may help if it doesnt want to stick, but I dont see a reason it wouldn't.
Let me know if you have any questions and post up some pics.
Just an update for everybody else, matting is still great and holding up like a charm. _________________ How much work would a network work if a network could network? |
