No vest? What is this, 1999?
There's so many Non CGA vests that you can't even tell exist, and they at least float you a little/provide impact protection. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

| There's no good reason not to wear some type of vest. If you catch your edge and knock yourself out good luck making it back up to the surface. Like savage3221 said, with everything out on the market you can find something that's comfortable even if it's minimal flotation support. |

seeing as your body can hit the water with up to 3,000 lbs of force. ill be wearing one so if that happens, ill be floating and able to breath while unconscious _________________ Lanexa VA |

| Ya, I don't get it. Maybe I'm one of the few who is actually psyched about getting a stylish new vest. I think a lot of them actually look cool as hell. I don't think anything even has to be said about wearing one from a safety standpoint...just a given. |

Blairwitch, dude you're 15.. that makes it even more foolish. C'mon man, just eat the price and get a good vest. You'll get used to it very quickly, especially if it's one of the better styled vests to fit a torso. Look at some of the Helium vests, or the O'Neill or jetpilot. Those are just some of the better vest companies, and there are many. I'm sure your parents would help you with the cost if necessary. It's just plain stupid not to keep yourself safe bud. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

Blindside_137, that's what I'm thinkin. I checked his profile as soon as I read that, and I'd much rather not wear a vest in 18" of water either. When our rail was still set at my lake, We'd always session it vest-less behind the pwc. But we were never deeper than 3' of water, and the actual rail was only maybe in 18"-20" of water. _________________

Not wearing a vest is just dumb, not only do they keep you afloat they offer protection. I prefer wearing a vest its easier to float in the water and takes less effort to swim/get ready to be picked up etc. Id rather be the most uncool person and be alive wakeboarding than be that cool radical guy that died because he wasnt wearing a vest. _________________ Random Acts Of Dumbness Will Always Be Rewarded. |

Not wearing a vest is crazy! Protection and floatability (is that even a word?)!
There are some really good, light weight vests around.I love the Jet Pilot range, looks like you're wearing combat gear, but super light weight. _________________ Suck it up and get hardcore! |

along this vein of questioning... Does anyone reccomend a good UCGA vest that offers flexibility like a comp vest? Basically the most comp-like vest that is UCGA? |

b33nine, I personally love my CGA helium vest. I have the S.W.A.T. Dragon (I think "Dragon" was just the CGA version name for that year). Basically a CGA version of one of their comp vests. For sure check them out, sick selection of life vests.

I have a Jetpilot vets, although not the best at floating, its a good vest wich is flexible and also very durable. Another plus, the impacts are really reduced.
You wont go driving a motorbike witouth a helmet? So wear a vest while on the water _________________

The other thing I like about the Jetpilot, apart from it being super light, is the side entry, with side zipper and popper. If you're a girl - sooooo much nicer than buckles down the front. _________________ Suck it up and get hardcore! |

| Anybody seen the new Vault commercial? Caught the tail end of it last night and it looked like the rider wasn't wearing a vest! I hope I just missed the part where he was wearing it, because that's a pretty stupid example for kids to see. |

I agree. I don't ride a bike without a helmet and I don't wakeboard without a vest. I always wear a CGA vest. I will always wear a CGA vest. I got a new HL side entry vest this year. I love it. It's a bit bulky but that's what I'm used to wearing. _________________ Sportbike Track Time Southern Division Instructor |

I just made the third vote for no vest. I prefer the floatation belt myself, I hear they are making a comeback. Something to do with the economy. |
