cwb pure fin question

i got an 08 CWB pure/torq combo, with this combo it came with a 1.9" skater fin, and a 1.68 chicklet fin. i emailed cwb but recieved no response. is this the fins that are suppose to come with it or should the fins be matching? thanks

1.9 skater fins are on the 2009. I think the same fin was on the 08. Were the fins already on the board? Did you buy it new or used? Fins can sometimes get mixed up at the factory and sometimes forgotten altogether.

nah the fins were in a bag together with the board and instructions, and i bought it new, just didnt know what was up with two mismatched fins, cause it seemed the first 180 i did the board just kinda lost control and was ridin funny when the smaller fin (1.68") was in the rear and larger (1.9") in the front

Then it must have been switched at the factory. Contact the board company you bought the board from and they can get you taken care of.

I have a CWB Pure (and did have the Torq bindings but they ripped in no time!). It should come with two 1.9" fins, however, I don't know what level you are at but I would seriously advise against using 1.9" fins!

I started riding with large fins and it is a lot easier to get up and ride as a beginner with large fins as it keeps the board very straight and true. It also corrects an awful lot of mistakes and errors in your edging when you have large fins.

However, as soon as I started trying to do any tricks, in particular surface 180's, powerslides, butterslides, the fins were really restrictive. As you turn the board on the surface the large fins would drag and ultimately cause many many faceplants!! (Experience speaking!! Including one perferated ear-drum and a fractured eye socket (although it is not sure if this was from rugby earlier in the day)).

I, very early on, ditched the 1.9" fins in favour of smaller ones. For a couple of sessions it felt really strange, very loose and like I was going to slip out all the time. This just served to highlight that I hadn't been edging correctly or landing tricks properly.

However, within a week they felt perfectly normal and more importantly I did not feel like I was going to eat stuff every time I tried to shove the board round!

Just realised, this is an excessively long reply to just say, ditch the big fins and ride the smallest ones you are comfortable with!

I still see no advantage to using fins in the first place, the Pure has molded fins already.
