so i just got into snowboarding. i bought a 2009 Forum Aura 149 board with burton stilleto bindings and DC phase boots.

ive had the board out about 2 times already and wanted to know about waxing it. i went out today and bought some all temp. wax, scraper, base cleaner, and a wax iron.

when should i wax the board and how often should i do it?

thanks

I use to wax about every 5 days riding, or whenever a significant snow temp change occured which ever came first.

I'm not a fan of base cleaner, I prefer to put on a coat of wax and scrap while it is still warm to pull out any residue. Base cleaner can ultimately dry out your base/core, but is not an issue with seldom use.

This website has just about everything you need to know about waxing.

Additionally, at the end of the season, put on a good thick coat of wax, and do not scrape. This will help retain moisture in the board throughout the summer and protect the base.

thanks so much for the info.

since it is a brand new board, should i wait longer to wax it for the first time or just do it every 5 rides or so?

Don't forget proper base prep. I haven't waxed my ski's all season - probably won't for the rest, don't feel they need it. But I do stonegrind and scrape.

I wouldn't use all temp wax. I'd use wax that is made for a specific temperature range. Your board should come pre-waxed from the factory.
