|
|
My head unit (MB Quart Nautic 450) has this intermittent beeping problem when the boat power is on but the engine is off. I am guessing it is an audible alert related to not receiving the required voltage. I have stripped the head unit wiring down to the basics (P/G/R) and it still 'beeps'. It does this regardless of the Perko battery switch position and both batteries are fully charged. Before I re-wire everything, are there any additional hardware or wiring recommendations to help deliver the required consistent/proper voltage? Should I re-wire my power and ground into the distribution blocks I am using for the amps? I am still using the factory head unit wiring and my connections (butt connectors) are all solid.
I am guessing I need to get a voltage meter and see what voltage is being delivered to the head unit. If it is sub-par, what are the proper steps to take?
My wb.com search results indicated a possible alternator issue. I will hope that is not the case.
Thanks! |

If you hook up a head unit to a fully charged battery [and it beeps], that has nothing to do with an alternator. _________________

True, I can rule out the alternator if the batteries can maintain a charge. |

Get out the voltmeter, should find your problem in a few minutes. _________________

Hollywood, seconded.
If its hitting below 11.5 volts at any point you need more juice. Alot of equipment will turn off by the time you are hitting 11 volts.
Do you know how much current you're pulling and what the battery set up is?
We can do some basic calculations to work out if its a fault of lack of power... _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |
