| So trying to take advantage of the whole circuity liquidation thing I was up looking at stereo equipment. Do people put stock car stereo equipment and headunits into boats? weve got a supra launch ssv with a really crummy system. Our headunit does have a waterproof little cover for it so I think its a regular one, but it has also gone bad, from getting wet possibly lol.. but any insight would be nice, are you going to destroy a system that wasnt made to be out on the water? |

Heaps of people use car audio in their boats - you just have to pick carefully and use it with a little more respect. To be honest, the higher end you go when it comes to boat stereo, the more you have to use car audio as the marine market is so limited.
Any car audio speaker with a plastic cone, should hold up ok, but look for speakers that make good use of stainless steel and higher quality materials to avoid having to replace everything after a year.
if you have a splashproof cover for your stereo then you can slam any car audio HU in, but be aware of picking one with decent anti-skip mechanisms if you plan on playing CD's. _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |

Nothing at Circuit City will be a deal. the liquidation companies take over, mark the product back up to MSRP and above, then offer a 10% discount. That makes it higher than it started at.
Most people use normal car audio equipment, but if the amps get wet, they're toast. |

You beat me to that one jonyb!!
I was going to say the same thing about Circuit City. I've been looking at maybe a new TV for my house, but as you said they have simply marked things back up, and now are just adding a 10% discount.
I was looking at a 53 inch TV, that listed for $2,875, but was on sale back at Christmas for $2,175. Now that same TV is listed back up to the MSRP price of $2,985 with a 10% discount, is $2,686.50.
Not much of a sale in my opinion.
Maybe checkout Cruchfield, jamesriver-rider,...they have a few older Clarion head units at a low price. |
