I am in the market for a new camcorder - I am interested in an HD model with a hard drive, but got to thinking that with all the bouncing that happens on the boat will that damage the hard drive?

Has anyone used a hard drive based camera for wakeboarding movies? If so would you recommend it or should I stick with the flash based memory cards to record the video to?

Thanks for your advice!

I have a friend who has been using a hard drive camera successfully on the boat for many years. I am in the market for one myself this year - HD HDD. Sooo nice not to have to "capture" movies, just drag and drop.

Most of the HDD cameras have "drop protection", As soon as the camera sensor detects sudden motion or vibration, the hard drive is immediately stopped and the camera turns off.
