Who's getting it and for what system?

I downloaded the demo the other day and it was great. So I went out and rented the first Skate(late I know). This is by far the best action sports game ever. The only thing I hate is how hard it is to do manuals. It took me forever to accomplish the flip trick to manual to flip trick challenge.

Preordered for 360. The first one is the best game I've ever played, and the second fixes my problems with the first. Not walking in the first one was a huge mistake. The amount of tricks they added to the second one is crazy, and will take some getting used to, but skate reel videos are going to be sick with the amount of style you can add to a line now.
My only worry with 2 is all the talk of beefed up security and skate bumps being installed everywhere. Hopefully it won't be all about finding that one hidden spot that is good to skate or spend all your time running from security. But, like someone on ws.com pointed out, the game probably just starts that way and as you move through it the city becomes more of a "skaters paradise" again. Guess I'll find out in a little less than a week. Til then, I just picked up COD:WAW to keep me entertained. Cool

Played the demo. Def a buy, loved the first one. Love the story, you've been in lockup lol. The demo hints at alot more security encounters, which I wasn't a fan of anyway. Takes away from the skating.

Roster's gettin' pretty stacked, they added like 4 or 5 new guys to this one on top of all the originals. Looks like it might take a while to beat this one.

Got it today and its sick!
Not as much security interference as I thought there might be, new tricks are sick, and there is a teleport option so when you look and challenges or skate spots on the map you can choose to teleport there instantly instead of skating or taking the subway. Graphics are improved and gameplay has not changed much aside from the new tricks. Walking is a little slow and clunky as far as controls go, but hey - they'll need something to work on for Skate 3, right? Cool

Anyone else pick it up?

I got it for ps3. I can't get passed the Danny Way part. I beat him, but every time I go through the end we start right over again. Can I not fall or something?

kdip, is that the one down the path at the mega compund? If so, that is a best of 3 contest, so even if you beat him the first round you still have to play 2 more rounds.

I don't know why, but sometimes I think this is one of my all time favorite games and other times I just flat out hate it. One thing I really dislike is the camera angles, high or low.

Camera angles screw me up sometimes too. I just did a vert contest and I jumped up out of view of the camera so I couldn't adjust my spin to land and fell. Also when you spin and land and the camera is in front of you and it delays in moving behind you sucks.

I finally beat that damn contest with Danny Way and the mega ramps. I know it lasted more than one round, but I couldn't get in a "groove" after not winning the first round.

Another thing that I dislike is the music. Why the hell can't I create my own playlist from my music on my computer? I can rarely hear the music at all anyway. I would play my music the regular way, but then I can't hear the other in game sounds(character voices, skateboard noises, cars, etc...).

The no comply over the bike rack challenge is driving me up a wall. How are you supposed to hit the x button and right stick(ollie) at the same time? I can do the other two parts to the challenge but the no comply is pure luck if i get it.

I get them about every 10th try. I tried that challenge and couldn't hit it so I moved on. The timing is so tight that I think its more luck than anything.

I'm stuck on the one where you have to manual to manual, to gap, to manual or something like that.

The Danny Way one took me forever, just keep restarting if you lose the first one or even if you bail on the first one.

wakeboarderdave1, you don't have to do them at the same time. You can push and then use the right stick for the ollie motion.

Mikeob1, doesnt that just make it so you ollie? i got both the other parts in that challenge done then had to no comp the racks and failed.

TP83, the timing takes a lot of practice and a little luck too. Kick with the front foot, and try to time the ollie flick for when his foot hits the ground. If you just ollie you are flicking too early and if you kick then ollie you are flicking too late.

i'll give it a shot but has anyone done the thrasher challenge when you have to handplant the backboard? making a half pipe out out of the two quarters didnt work like i thought it would.

On that one, I found a trick online where you pull a broken picnic table (the kind that are like ramps) over under the backboard, then you put one of the quarter pipes on top of that so it is right under the backboard. Then you just do a handplant on the quarter pipe but it still counts for the challenge. Cheap and easy, but it works.

Dammit I'm stuck on the Hippy jump with another flip trick and a laser flip challenge. Along with the manual challenge with the planters. I just plain suck and manuals and can't ever get the timing right.
