I think the condition of that datsun is almost as impressive as the time slips. _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |

It's about time. Big business auto makers need to get their heads out of their asses and make this production-effective and stop being so greedy. It's time for things like these to become the mainstream methods of travel. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

savage3221, greed is what will eventually get an electric car to market. _________________

First - it would be much cooler with a rusted out buddy ass datsun body.
Second - electric cars aren't completely environmental friendly, unless the place you charge it gets all of its electricity from clean sources, which is unlikely. Burning coal is nasty, and just because the pollution isn't happening at your exhaust pipe doesn't mean it isn't happening.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to have an electric car to drive around the city. It is an option to reduce dependancey on foreign oil, and is probably a much more environmentally friendly option. It is just not totally clean like the bit made it out to be. |

Because that is how it is set up. Its intended to dump everything in the 1/4 mile pass. We are there, there are already electric cars out there that can run 40 - 50 miles on a charge. _________________ WakeSurf and Wakesurfing News |

Nooga678, don't forget the environmental footprint left behind by battery manufacturing.... _________________

Lop, Great point.
plus - where's the power coming from to re-charge his batteries? I hear most power still comes from a less than eco-friendly source _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |

I think there is still the potential for them to be more environmentally friendly, and definately the plus of cutting dependancy on foreign oil. I just thought the video was over the top with how clean it is.
Burning coal for electricity is nasty from coal mining, to burning it, to disposing of the waste. Nuclear is much cleaner (and I support it 100%), but still has its environmental issues. Hydro could be considered clean, but still has its environmental impacts from daming a river (though we all do love our lakes ).
The battery solution hopefully will be addressed soon as they are developing new batteries that work on the atom level that recharge almost instantly and always recharge to the same level. My brother in law in physics was telling me about them, but I really don't know much about it. |
