Anyone switch to the new AT&T all in one service?

The whole door to door selling is a little strange to me. Kind of makes me feel like it is a scam.

Compared to TimeWarner and Roadrunner what do you guys think?

I'd be intrested too... I currently have ATT/DSL/Dish bundled. I'd be intrested for the additional ability to record and losing TV service less often.

I have it and its great. Right away from the first day we had it, we noticed a better picture quality. We have a ton of move channels, and just about anything on free onDemand that you can watch on any TV. I also like that you can record on your DVR and watch that recording on any TV in the house

I highly recommend it

I did hear that if you record and delete shows it all has to be from one central DVR. You can watch from other TVs in your house but not record from those TVs. That seems like a pain if I am laying in bed and want to record something?

flixmaster, you sure you can't record from other TVs but it just saves to the main DVR? I figured that's how it would work. I don't know though.

My mom has Uverse and they said it took a while to work the kinks out of it - had to have the service technician come out multiple times to get stuff straight (on their end). But now they love it. I think they pretty much only watch the 1 TV though so I don't know about your original question.

One thing is don't trust those door to door guys. I signed up with one for Fios and they would tell you almost anything to get you signed up. Told me a bunch of lies to get me to sign up. Go online and do the actual research. Based on my experience with these people I would likely try not to give them my business, and sign up online on purpose - where you can find the information directly.

Uverse had constant issues for a longggg time. My friend is a technician for them, and he even told us we were nuts for dealing with all of the problems it has. Had it for 4 months, then we got rid of it. Couldn't deal with having to restart the boxes all the time for 'updates' or having a technician come out 2 or more times each month because of a problem.

It's pretty sick. I was skeptical about the door to door stuff so I made an appt. I asked why they do that and they said that since they turn on neighborhoods individually it makes more ense to sell the product than to try and send out mailers that everyone throws away.

We signed up for it because a) DishNetwork sucks a nut, b) We could double our internet speed, c) it would lower our total bill (Internet, phone, cable) by $40 and we got faster internet and more channels.

When they came to install it the guys that took our order screwed it all up according to the tech. I don't think it was the sales guys but the order entry since we confirmed everything with the order taker on the phone while the sales guys were there. Anyhow, it took about 4 hours to install which isn't a big deal except you are off the grid that whole time. Not important unless you work from home like my wife.

After the install everything was fine. Some of the cool things...

Internet is the speed they say. The 6mbps is legit and they test it constantly to make sure it is. (You can get up to 18 mbps)
Phone reception through VOIP is fine and if the power goes out there is a 4hour backup.
TV is great. You can record 4 things at once and run every TV off the same DVR. Soon they will upgrade so that you can store your shows online instead of on a hard drive. You get a lot more space that way.
You get at least 2 HD feeds and sometimes (Like us) 3 if you are close enough to the POP.
The DVR has some cool things like Yahoo Games, on screen caller ID, U-Verse which lets you see sports, stocks, weather and news on a border around what you're watching (You customize the content online).
You can program your DVR online.
They are constantly adding more HD content.

All in all I am really happy with it. I have had Dish, Direct and ATT and U-Verse is by far the best. I was sketchy on it at first but it really is good and it's cheaper.

J-Ro, interesting.

It's more expensive for us, but not by a lot. That considers that we get TV from Dish, 'Net from Wave (6mbps), and phone through Vonage.

I haven't had any problems with Dish, ever (other than very rare outages), and we have had Dish on and off (mostly on) for nearly a decade now.

Still, U-verse had me looking at it after I read through this post. Some really cool features there.

But alas, after a very minor adjustment to my plan with Dish yesterday, I am even happier with it. Especially now that their website is easier to use, which made the adjustment crazy easy. It would take a seriously unbelievable offer from AT&T to get me to switch now.
