Hey guys and gals.

Brand newbie in the house!

21 yr old Canadian. (Yes, just the perfect time to pick up wakeboarding and figure id give it a shot.. IN THE MIDDLE OF FREAKIN WINTER!.. Evil or Very Mad Laughing) Figure by the time summer rolls around and cottage time is right around the corner, i'll be a nutcase!

Well, onto the more important stuff. For my first board I have an opportunity to get an 2009 LF Trip. I know, stacked for a first board, but could this cause riding problems later, or even be just too damn hard to get up? I've heard its good at any level, just looking to be sure. Is there another brand/model I should be looking at instead?

And as well, the boat I will be using wont have a pylon just yet. Does that make it harder to get up? Will it cause problems/bad habits later?

I realize that wakeboarding is a "just go out and try it" type sport, but in southern Ontario there isn't much of a following, if at all. And I'm really not keen in going into the water when there's ice floating around(Wet/drysuit or not!) Just trying to find out all I can before the season starts.

Looking forward to chatting it up with all of you guys.

Lates.

---Edit--

Oh... and might be important for the board to know my "size." lol
6'4'' and 210 pounds. Was thinking 142 would be good enough. 146 might be too much... maybe?

sYsTeM87, you'll be fine. Get yourself a DVD like "The Book" for beginners. It will cover getting up, learning to edge, etc. Your board will be fine and so will your boat setup while you learn to get up, edge, figure out which way your regular and switch stances will be, and other stuff.

You can worry about a pylon after you get those basics down. You've got plenty of time to watch and learn-might as well take advantage of it.

BSBell, If I could swing that damn lottery to go my way, I'd have a home up here, and a house down there! Spend summers here because its just so damn nice. Then when the 40 ft. of snow comes, run like hell to the south! But, as things have it, those magic numbers have eluded me. Laughing

pet575, that might prove to be the best thing for me. I can get as much knowledge as possible before actually riding. Cant say it would hurt!

I do wish there was more of a following here, well at least in my town.
