3-stage is slower (creates more drag in the water) but has more of a pop off the wake. Gives youa bucking feeling when you hit it right but if you don't hit it right you don't pop really well.

Continuous is faster and more consistent off the wake, you get the same pop most of the time. Landings are softer too.
