Hey!
I'm trying to come up with a good Christmas gift idea for my boyfriend who is 28. He has a wakeboard right now but it is a few years old and he never uses the boots for it. I know NOTHING about wakeboarding, but it is one of his favorite things to do. I'd say he is an intermediate wakeboarder. He is 6'1 and 180-200 pounds.
Can you suggest any boards or accessories that might be worth looking into? Is wakeskating super different from wakeboarding?
I'm such a n00b. //fail. Haha...
It'd be awesome if you could help in anyway. Thanks! |

Can you explain what you mean by "he never uses the boots"?
Has he ever mentioned to you what he would like to get if he got a new board or bindings?
Has he ever mentioned wakeskate or wakesurf as potential interests? _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

Sorry - I guess I meant bindings. He takes them off and just uses the board itself.
He hasn't mentioned anything. He has a cabin in BC he visits 3 or 4 times in the summer, so he isn't by any means a pro.
He has always been interesting in surfing, and loves to wakeboard. So I'm guessing he would be open to anything watersport related. He has a ski as well. |

Whoa, I'm having a real hard time picturing someone riding a wakeboard without bindings. You might have to send us a picture of that one.
Nevertheless...
Does he remove the bindings because they are uncomfortable or he doesn't like them? If so, you could buy him some bindings he'd really like. There are some really comfortable and supportive bindings out there.
If you could find out what board and bindings he has, that might help for suggestions.
Another idea would be to buy him a wakesurf board, as long as he is riding behind some sort of inboard, not an I/O (or sterndrive) or outboard. _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

got2bamandap, you should get him a wakeskate. If he likes riding a wakeboard without bindings, then he'll probably take to wakeskating. Even a cheapo flatdeck is a step up from what he has right now.

There ya go...wakeskate. D88...never heard of someone riding a wakeboard without bindings. Guess that's a way to simulate the wakeskate if you don't have one eh? _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

Hey! So I was able to find out that it is a Hyperlite board. But he said it is really old.
But you guys are suggesting wakeskating. Do you have to wear the skate shoes when you wakeskate?
Thank you for answering a billion questions. Haha

| you dont have to if you have a foam top wakeskate, but I would reccomend it if you are going to take wakeskating seriously. |

Well, riding a wakeboard without bindings, sounds like a wakeskate to me!
There pretty cheap ones on the market that are also nice. Look at the Ronix ones! _________________

The first "wakeskate" I ever rode was a buddy's ancient Hyperlite that had foam epoxied to the top. It was fun, but not good for much. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

Thats how I learned to wakeskate. Had an old Blindside 132 that we started on. Once we decided we liked it we threw some grip tape on the top and walllaah!!! We had a wakeskate _________________ Does this rag smell like chloroform?

| any liquid force board would be good.... or the CWB Transcend... thats a real nice board... however f you wanna go with the ronix brand the one is good intermidiate board... and hyperlite is overrated... so i wouldnt go there. |
