I cannot connect to the ReviewPost database. [$php_errormsg]

yeah we are having some problems with the database server today. someone is looking into it..

flixmaster, haven't noticed. But I'll take note if it happens again and post it up.

I use Firefox so don't know if that is part of it..

no it is not firefox. It is the database. When we moved servers we had the problems really bad. Joe did some tweaks and then it cleared up. We now just have some problems every now and then so I would like to find out the problem. It could be google indexing or the scan alert scans... who knows unless I can pinpoint the times and see what is going on.

I know we had a scan running during the day and I am going to try and get those moved to off peak hours.

Ed, it may be indexing that's upping the server load and causing it to slow down or give database timeouts. I was getting that this morning.

I think it was scanalert. It was doing a site scan on one of the sites and I think that caused the probelms with the database. It was running today during the day. I am going to try and have them move those to after hours.... I had not seen any during the day in the past.

oh.. yeah.. database is acting up really bad today.. we have been looking at it for the last 30 minutes.. still not 100%...

When i get them, sometimes I catch a glimpse of google analytics trying to load. Dunno if that might have something to do with it.

an update to these errors..

I have seen a huge amount of traffic from mother russia. All of it is spam traffic so I have blocked a large number of IP addys from that country. I am going to keep on the lookout for more but it seems like they all want to get backlinks from the messageboards so they are flooding us with requests. They are all junk connections.

Dave is also looking into other connections that are hanging around and not clearing.

be patient.. just can't help all the spam stuff. That is what filled up the sessions table today.

I have not seen any issues with the changes we made on another site.. so I am going to make the same change to another site we have that is active and see if this will cut down.

I found another spam account that hit us with 400 connections in a 5 minute timeframe so that is causing problems.. I really wish I could find all spammers and destroy their computers..

I emailed the host but they would not return my email. I emailed them at the abuse 'hotline' address. But got NOTHING..

We have had to restart the server 3 or 4 times in the past few days. We are having an issue with the servers. They are trying to figure out what is going on with the box. The hosting company has been looking into it the past few days. They have installed some trace software and other features to try and resolve the issue..

Yes we are having some problems with the database server.. Problems started yesterday. Looks like we are getting a HUGE amount of SPAM mail that is killing the box. Looks like some kind of bounce back spam.
