Help me replace my busted laptop.

Hey all.

While I was living in Colorado, my housemate broke my HP DV2040TX. He has just transfered my $1000 AUD (about $800 CAD thanks to the horrible performance of the AUD over the last 2 months).

I should have been able to walk into a store and pretty much replace mine with an equivelant, but as I said I'm now out about $200 because it took him a while to get me the money. I really want another HP (although their warranty/service team are a NIGHTMARE), Maybe something in the DV6000 series. I realise that I might have to kick in a little extra myself, that's fine. My question is, should I be looking online? Are the savings worthwhile, and has anybody purchased online and can recommend a good, reputable, CHEAP site that I can check? I will be shipping to B.C.

I have ordered from Dell online and have great success with my laptop.

Only other thing i would suggest is if you have a circuit city or best buy up there to go in and check out an open box or disply model and then fork out the money for extended warranty.
