change sparkplugs, and check the impeller. They can suk up debris pretty quick, and from deep under water (2 feet or more). If it chews the impeller, get out the check book, but they are pretty hard to bend, so I'm sure it's just weeds, and spark plugs.

We went out into a lake and all of a sudden the engine started sounding really weird we looked around us and there was all this seaweed grass crap everywhere. So we got out of it back into some fresh water and kept trying to get the impeller to chop it up but it never worked so we went just over idle back to the dock and pull the boat up. There was a ball of the junk about 1'x1'. Im sure thats not your problems its probably the spark plugs just thought i'd share.
