Can anybody explain the benefits of a long rope vs a short rope?
I have a SANTE and ride 65' and 22 mph which is what was recommended. But whenever an expert rider gets behind my boat they go 75-80' and 24-25 mph.
I understand the faster speed will narrow the wake but is the longer rope helping with hang time and is this something that needs to be worked up to as I'm not really comfortable at that speed?

A longer rope will allow you to cut out further and so that also means you can build a bigger edge to hit the wake

i ride at exactly the same. 65@22

the longer the rope the harder it is to cross the wake (wider wake)
and typically the faster you go the smaller the wake given the same ballast in my experience.

so its alot harder.
