Ok my look and wardrobe has changed quite a bit since starting graduate school.

With shoes like the ones posted in the link below, would you wear socks or no socks?

If you would wear socks what kind?

Driving mocs are more of jeans/shorts type - very casual shoe..... which would be no socks.
I've never really seen anyone wear them in a business type setting.

PimpinD2, for the love of crap, wear socks.

Dress socks (i.e. thinish). I prefer no-cotton socks. I found a brand called CopperSole that makes the best I have used, and they last forever.

Dress shoes require socks, same color as the trousers.

PimpinD2, I have those exact mocs. The insole is a light foam, so unless you have no sweat pores on your feet, you pretty much have to wear socks. I just wear dress socks with them. I wear them with jeans so the only time my socks might be visible is when I'm sitting down.

BTW- I think mine were $150 at Dillard's. If you have a Dillard's close you might save some money on shipping and get to try them on first. They're sized more like running shoes than dress shoes. I usually wear 1/2 to a full size smaller in dress shoes than running shoes, but I wear those mocs in the same size as my running shoes.

ohsix, yea, i figured that one out the hard way! Tomjames is actually my tailor and they make all my shirts and pants, so they just order the shoes for me, and it came out to $155 out the door. I was afraid 9.5 would be too big since my cole haan 9.5 dress shoes didnt fit, but sure enough as you said, they are sized like sneakers. Ill be wearing some dress socks then! Need to find some khaki colored socks now!....

PimpinD2, socks!!! If they won't let you wear running shoes, you don't think they won't cringe when you walk in with slacks, shoes, and no socks?

I use TomJames as well. Helps that my tailor is a smokin brunette. Twisted Evil

PimpinD2, all I use them for is my suits. That's it. Everything else is just like I can find anywhere else. They do make very good suits, and with my build I need to have the suit tailored or it makes me look like a fat SOB.

www.bachrach.com You'd like their stuff. I get my shirts and ties from here.

thats my problem also.

I have broader shoulders than my waist and dress shirts always fit funny. Pants are also an issue, as the zip / fly area always seems to be too long. Ive been wearing "facionable" brand pants recently and they seem to address this issue for me...

Definitely socks, I had some Calvin Klein shoes that are pretty much those same shoes... unless you wear those with shorts... but then you would look like a complete toolbag anyway

The Results Are:

If you have no leg hair === no socks
If you have leg hair ==== socks

lcap, Laughing

I think the pants matching socks thing is overrated. I just rock black socks.

Careful on the matching the shoes vs. pants---you could end up looking like you're wearing the bootie things from the 70's. Colorful
