f*ck you music industry! Devil Guy Devil Guy Devil Guy Devil Guy

http://gizmodo.com/5038049/pandora-internet-radio-cant-take-royalty-rates-will-likely-close-the-box

Quote:
Pandora, the internet radio station built around your tastes, will probably be going out of business soon. After getting slapped by the CRB with exorbitantly high royalty rates to continue playing music, founder Tim Westergren says the company is facing a "pull-the-plug" situation. There's one congressman trying to help Pandora and it's million plus users, but the service is bleeding money in the meantime and its future looks grim. I'll be very sad to see it go, since being reintroduced to it recently through their excellent iPhone app. What great idea do you have for us next, CRB?

What they don't realize is it actually helps them sell music.

I have found out about a bunch of bands I never heard of before old and new cuz of Pandora.
I then go buy the songs I like from I tunes for my Ipod.

What are they cryn about - I don't understand what the "issue" is.

J_DOGG, EXACTLY!! i'm a music idiot. i don't pay attention to who's new, who's hot, who's good...if someone introduces me to it, i'll somewhat pay attention but by and large, i still listen to the same music i listened to 10 and 15 years ago.

when people on here or other sites talk about some kind of music or band, i make a channel on pandora and listen to it while i'm at work. i pretty work by myself in the office, so i need something to keep me from going crazy.

w/o pandora, i'd never listen to anything new. and i sure as hell would never buy any of it.

+1 Slacker is 10X better than Pandora anyway. It will be OK.

The record companies are just keeping at it. I will move on to others, but Pandora has introduced me to many, many other bands I would have never heard of otherwise.

TubeNazi, that's so true. My girl has bought so many CD's from bands she never even heard of all thanks to pandora. I don't get why they want to stop something that is selling CD's for them.

Stupid...stupid people...at least there are other options.

Since America is one big reality show anyway, can we start voting people off the island? Confused

We should be voting them TO a deserted island. You survive, good for you. You die, tough stuff.

I picked up one of the 25 station Slacker Portable's back when they first came out. It's pretty neat, plus it's way better than satellite radio and doesn't even need a signal.

Pandora got an update today. It's faster, looks slightly different for the "thumbs up or thumbs down" options, and has links to buy the songs from iTunes or Amazon.

It may be ok. Very Happy

my favorite ghostland observatory moment - inviting the longhorn band onstage for the band marches on at the austin music hall a couple of months ago:

Awesome awesome awesome! That would be an amazing show.

I saw them on St. Patty's Day this year and there was nothing special beyond everyone being SUPER drunk and the on-the-fly "Step Up 2 the Streets-Style" dance off that involved the whole crowd that got everyone pumped up before Ghostland started their set.
