Looks like outboards & i/os are out of the questions. espc with the possiabilty of the prop cutting the line. Also seems pretty dangerous, being pulled by a boat with no lifejacket going that deep under water. I know in the lakes & rivers I am in there is always the possibilty of running over submerged logs & rocks. I hope you have really good liabilty insurance. |

I agree with bass69, ripping through a dark murky lake would definately freak me out! Also, how does the driver know your still holding on, might be the newest way to drown! Neat design but not sure if it would take to the market too well. |

How exactly do you stop people from using a long rope, diving to 80', drowning, and then their family taking you to court? |

Yeah, you need to get that website working with firefox.
There are very few lakes in the US clear enough to make that device safe or even enjoyable. I know there are no lakes in Texas clear enough.
The "acrobatic" maneuvers seem very limited. The only real value I see in the device is if you were to use it for snorkeling in the ocean. That would give you something to look at. It looks like you are going very slow in the water, not much faster than what you would with flippers. I don't know anyone who snorkels in the ocean with a boat though.
Seems like a good concept but there just aren't many places for it to be used. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

On the other hand, I believe the military may be able to find some uses for that. Gitmo comes to mind _________________

Wakebrad, I have been diving in Lake Travis 3 times. Avg. visibility was around 10-15 feet. Good enough for me to go past 100' and feel safe! _________________

Dpierce37, Even at 10-15 ft I wouldn't feel comfortable with that. Although Travis is pretty deep. My mom did her certification dive there.
I did it mine a rock quarry outside of town, only had about 3 ft of visibility. It was a challenge. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Wakebrad, I got certified at the Blue Lagoon in Huntsville. It's an old rock quarry as well.
http://www.bluelagoonscuba.com/ and here is some aTm class diving there

If you are the first one in the water, you can get 8' but bye the end of the day....your lucky to get 3'
I did a jettie clean up in Port A with at best 2' vis...smashing currents, 30' dive. Did Dock inspections for Port of CC 50' deep with 0 visibility! |

Dpierce37, damn dude that doesn't sound like fun.
So you dove for a job for a while in school? Sounds like a pretty cool gig, although those projects sound a little scary. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

seems like a lot of things could go wrong with this invention... it was creepy whenever the person was diving down and would go over the logs. _________________ Land of 10,000 Lakes |

Can I sue a wakeboard manufacturer if I screw my knee up, or if I were to drown from getting knocked out and landing face down, could my family sue? _________________ Always looking for others who ride on Norris Lake in TN

Sure, as long as the person bringing the suit has legal standing, you can "sue" anyone for essentially anything. Weather or not you would win is an entirely different question.
Given that there are multiple warnings about the risks involved, I think it would be difficult to win, unless you could prove that it was a manufacturing flaw that caused you harm.
I haven't really looked into the cases revolving around watersport injuries, but I get the feeling that the precedent has been set that manufacturers are not liable as long as the user was aware of the risks involved. I haven't really ever heard of a huge case regarding this either though... _________________ wakeboards

Check into some product liability insurance! This might have Kite tube written all over it.
send us one at Wakeboarder.com and I will have one of our brave forum users try it out. _________________ Wakeskating

Also it seems like the boat pulling you would have to go very slow, otherwise the rope with all that tension would snap |

Wow, this is an old thread. Since we brought it up again, Dragon88, couldn't he just put the same warnigns on his piece like wakeboard manufactureres due and be safe? _________________ Always looking for others who ride on Norris Lake in TN

Am I missing something, or is this basically a sea sled? Idea's been around for a long time, just not as futurey looking. I've used these in the keys to go lobstering/lazy snorkeling.
