I need some help crossing the wake. I can consistently case the wake and have cleared a few times but can't clear consistently and haven't even cleared twice in a row. I think my progressive edge is pretty good but I am not very sure. I get pretty good pop but sometimes my knees seem to just buckle up at the end of the runs. I have the boat going at about 22 mph and ride at a pretty good distance not sure exactly what it is. If I try to edge any harder at the wake I get thrown off balance or the nose of the board gets thrown down. I'm not really sure if I should be keeping my weight more back or more even when I'm edging/jumping.
So how do I consistently get over that final hump to where I can comfortably clear the wake everytime? |

| Try bringing the rope in a couple of feet til you get the hang of clearing the wake consistently. Or you could go a little faster to make the wake skinnier. |

Also, suck your knees up a bit. If you bring em up a few inches that could give the split second needed for the distance
or just pull the rope in a bit. I started with the rope in at like 55, when i was first starting to jump, and basically once a month i moved it back i ride at 65 i think right now, or however long my rope is
You'll notice once you get passed the mental block of not being able to clear it, that you will actually clear it by too much, and thats when you let the rope out |

If at all possible, get some video. This help you verify what you "think" is going on while you're out there. _________________

| I finally did go past W2W and i am doing w2flats. I just had to grow some nuts. I felt like i was going to puss out but i just went for it and got way out there. Just get out there and do the hardest progressive edge you have ever done and you will clear the wake easy. Than you will realize that you could have done it a week or 2 ago and you just didnt have the guts to. Like me. |

| Yea, but the problem is I have cleared the wake before and just can't seem to keep doing it over and over. I will try to get some video next time out so I can see what I am doing although I keep saying that and I always forget the camera. |

| Well I went out yesterday and decided to try and move the rope in about a foot. I tied a new loop in the rope and went out and rode. It was perfect! I cleared the wake on every jump and started throwing in some grabs. It felt like I had more pop with the rope in that extra foot also. Now to start trying some toeside and switch riding and getting some good grabs. One thing I noticed from some of the videos I watched of myself is that the nose of the board is shooting up and not leveling out so I am going to have to try and fix that. I didn't even notice it when I was riding. Can't get out again until Friday but it should be a lot of fun. Thanks for all the help. |

| It is a Four Winns Horizon going at 22 mph. I think that was from before we trimmed the motor so the wake is usually slightly bigger. The person I ride with gets a lot more pop than I do though. I think I am absorbing some of the wake on take off. |

Well, I just wanted to say thanks for the help. I finally got my pop pretty consistent. I still need to cut a little harder but I was clearing every time. The thing I had to focus on was making sure that when I would stand tall that I didn't stand up but back, if you no what I mean. I noticed after watching my videos that when I stood tall I would stand straight up which would throw me off balance and off edge. If I stood tall but backwards instead of up I would get good pop off the wake and felt a ton more comfortable in the air. I was even able to throw in a tail grab and a couple other grabs that I couldn't do before because I was so off balance.
I ride a 2006 Obrien Oasis 142 which is probably a little big for me but I really like the feel of it. Never ridden anything better so I have nothing to compare it too other then an old Hyperlite offshore with sandle bindings that sits in the garage. The wake is decent with the motor trimmed, I have no weight in the boat at all so it is pretty good. I wish I could keep riding but it is off to school so the season is over until next year. I hope to progress pretty good next year since I feel like I am finally getting the hang of jumping. I also landed a hs fs 180 casing the other wake too. So thanks for all the help. |
