I must admit, I have heard a bunch of older ski boats, and out of them, I think I enjoy the sound of older Supras the best. They have that nice throaty sound, esp when cruising around 30-35.
It probably sucks for boarding behind it, but strictly from a cruising perspective. I always turn and look when I hear them going by.

Can't say I have ever had the pleasure of listening to a 2001.
What other boats do you guys like in terms of sound?

I hear that all the time.
You should really hear these motors when put into a vehicle with a proper muffler. I can make people drool.

I would have to agree. Mine has the 454 and when I start mine up in the driveway it makes a lot of racket enough if I leave it on for more than 10 minutes the neighbor asks me to turn it off. When it is just idling water is splashing up the transom and through the swim platform it almost looks like a sauna. Above 3000 rpm it really starts to sound good and at 4000 you cannot speak to the person next to you.

Hey Loud
Small World! It's a 1996 TS6M Comp powered by a 351 Windsor with electronic fuel injection and GT40 heads. (310HP) It has small inline silencers but no flappers or traps. I looked at a 96 Spitfire; I think it’s a more practical boat but it couldn't compare with the performance of the Supra. I’m going to put a tower on it but as my son rarely gets up to the cottage these days, I didn't want to get too one dimensional. I know it doesn't look it but the Supra is actually heavier than the Spitfire and more stern heavy than comparable Mastercrafts etc. They all need sacs to put up big wakes.

Nice Boat Ontarion, and def a small world
What variables did you go with when comparing performance of the supra vs spitfire?
Your boat did sound nice when you did a drive by, I was jealous
We had my spitfire sacked with 500 lb on either side of the engine last weekend, and had 7 people in the boat (around 1600lb total) and the wake was very nice. We were doing tantrums and backrolls with ease. Its really only used for wakeboarding now as nobody skis behind it, and we use it for the ocassional tube.
What tower do you plan on going with?

The supra is a faster boat (50mph) and as I don't ski myself anymore there has to be some pleasure in the driving of it. This particular boat only had 270 hours on it and was always stored indoors on a trailer. From a technical point of view the Kevlar composite hull is kind of cool and they are warranted for life by Skier's Choice who builds both Supra and Moomba. Moomba are built differently and don't get the warranty. All tow boats are kind of like towtrucks for the water. This one is just a little sleeker. I owned a SeaRay 260 Sundancer and they make great boats. The Spitfire reminded me of driving the 1953 Chris Craft inboard I once owned. Heavy and solid but kind of old school. That being said they have classic good looks and never look dated.
As for the tower? I think I'll go with a new dimensions tower. The owner designed and built the original towers for both Supra and Moomba before going off on his own. The towers are true to the originals and are less bulky than many of the new designs.
I like the Supra tower with its small diameter tubing, tall profile and complex structure. The Moomba tower has a nice swoop to it but is lower and the tow mount is set back further on the boat. I'll include pictures of both and see what opinions I get.

| Why not go with an extended pylon if you wont be using the tower much for wakeboarding. Cheaper, and you can take it down when your done.

| The tower will make the boat look more up to date and provides more storage and hardware options and capabilities. It also permanently frees up access to the back seat. I don't know if you have noticed I pull a lot of young beginners. It is because I am the chairman of a Children of Chernobyl charity and often have the children at the cottage. There are no boats were they come from and there can be a language barrier so they don't make great crew. For the most part you end up doing or wishing you had done everything yourself. The more efficient the setup, the easier it is for me.

New Dimension
Love it
If you get board racks get the good ones, not saying mine aren't good, but they aren't too strong.
Get the Anchor light on top. You will love never having to break out a light bar ever again. Hit the Nav and Anchor light and go.
The detail in the tower is Amazing. They Engraved and then Painted "Supra" and the logo into the side of the tower for me at no charge. It really sets it off as a custom tower.
It's very durable and strong, no sway or rattling at all.

| Your boat is a Mariah? So the swoop tower is offered by New Dimension as custom fit for your boat as well as the OEM style. They only list the OEM style for the Comps on their website. I wonder what the difference is?

Sorry for the tiny pic above lol! Still waiting on one final part for the FAE. If anyone is thinking about it, I will post my pictures and sizing soon!
I really have a thing against crossbars on towers blocking my view. Although it does make board racks cheaper! I have been very happy with my Monster Tower. I needed my tower fully collapsable.
Ballast system is pretty much completed (four sacs for wakeboarding all hidden. Optional side sac 700lbs by motor for surf) I can go above 2000lbs but without a power prop it's a bit sluggish. 1200 - 1500 is fine.
Next projects are power prop and stereo. Stereo I am upgrading piece by piece. First boat speakers (bought!), then a deck, then 2nd battery and relay, then Kicker KM6 speakers, one sub and one amp. Oh and an EQ. Hah! And wiring...
Should I do the tower light when i wire tower speakers? Would that be easier?

Hey Vette!
I bought a pair of Fly High Locker Sacs (350lbs each). I put one under the sundeck and one under the rear seat.
I bought a pair of Fly High Locker V-Drive sacs (400lbs each). that I put in the bow shoved as far to the outside and rear of the bow as possible.
There are some unused compartments under the spotters seat govebox, and under the drivers seat, that you can only really access from the bow in my boat. I removed a little wooden divider and bang!
I use one FloTec simer pump reversable $75 from hardwareworld.com each sac takes about 5 - 8 mins. Water intake is from the motor raw water works great. Plumbed to the pump under spotters seat, then in between the boats hull walls and around to the back. Each sac has a valve but I haven't done the overflow/vents yet.
I have an optional sac I use only for surfing along w/ the rear sacs.
I can pump upwards of 2k lbs but without a power prop around 1500 is plenty.
OJ Props is trying to sell me on a 13.25" diam x 10" power prop for $425. now I use a 13x12.
It's getting cold nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
