Well - we did it. bought a 90 year old house and are in the process of fixing it up. Here are some pics from the demo after the first 3 days.

Kitchen is gutted, wall removed between kitchen and dining room (replaced with peninsula). Back wall cut out for mud room addion (to be made into mainfloor bathroom)

Anyways - here are some pics. Will keep you updated as we progess. move in Aug 22nd so hopefully we get the big stuff done soon.

Alter Ego,
did it have the plaster walls? My grandma's house has that and i had to knock it out one day. Talk about a dusty mess. Looks like you've got a good start.

Looks like you are doing 24" on center, is that a good idea in that old of a house? I'm not sure why it wouldn't be, i just remember a few people me telling me to avoid that when i was remodeling my house (built in 1930).

Alter Ego, your studs. I don't see why 24" vs. 16" on center would matter. It dosn't appear to be a bearing wall or it would be double studded.
