Hey all. My granparents have a pontoon boat that when im visiting, wakeboard behind. The only problem is that we have to tie the rope to one side or the other of the pontoons. It is an outboard pontoon that at full speed is like perfect for wakeboarding and kneeboarding. What I was wondering was if it was possible to make a small pylon for relatively cheap that would go rite obove the motor in this little area. I kind of have some Ideas but dont know if it would be strong enogh to pull me if it was bullted together or if it would have to be wellded.

Why do you need a pylon for a pontoon. Do the make decent wakes?? I always thought they would make a weird double wake.

if you are wakeboarding behind a pontoon just get your feel for the board/water. practice cutting and surface tricks. once you are very very comfortable with wakeboarding on the surface, find a I/0 to ride behind or a real wakeboard boat.

If you really want a pylon for a pontoon you can probably find something like this pretty cheap on ebay.
http://www.boatersworld.com/product/479690034.htm
It's not anything like a fly high pylon but it's probably better than tieing the rope to the side of the pontoon.

srhboarder, judging by your spelling you probably don't have the ingenuity or skills to fabricate a pylon for that boat. Tie it off to the pontoon and do your thing. I'm sure they'll be impressed by you getting up and cutting around anyhow.

Hollywood, Ya thanks @$$ hole. I can build things just fine. Rite now Im re-doing the engine on my grandpa's 69 GTO and have taken my dirtbike down to the bair frame and powdercoated everything and re-did the top and bottom end. The other thing is that im only 13 and can probably build things better than you. How was my spelling on that one!!!!!

Ya, Rite, Im, bair, im are all misspelled. But at only 13 you still have a lot of English schooling ahead of you.

And calm down!

What's involved with redoing an engine? LOL. On a serious note wakeboarding behind a pontoon is only going to be able to take you to a certain level of riding. I would do what Hollywood suggested and just tie of to the pontoon and have fun cutting around and practicing service tricks. Show off a little old school flare and learn the "Olé!"

You dont know who I am or what im about and how smart or stupid I may be. You know the saying"Dont judge a book by its cover" Well i am the book. Evil or Very Mad Twisted Evil Evil or Very Mad Twisted Evil Sad Evil or Very Mad Twisted Evil Evil or Very Mad Sad Crying or Very sad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

I would put the book down immediately if the author did not care about spelling words correctly and it probably wouldn't get a recommendation either... Confused Do you want to keep going with this? Stop being lazy.

Well i'll remember that and if you could, please dont judge people so much. Not everyone is stupid if they don't end up spelling everything perfectly.

srhboarder, use firefox, has a built in spellcheck Wink. I saw something very interesting out on the lake this weekend, it was a pontoon with an old truck rollbar mounted on it. I had to look at it, and basically the guy told me he found the rollbar at a scrap yard for 20 bucks and fabed some backing plates, just drilled through the deck and bolted it in, seemed to work.
