| I am looking at the wetsounds tower cans and wanted to get some insight. Which would be a better set up and why.. 4 pro80's or 2 pro80's and a pro485? |

viper,
thanks for the interest in Wet Sounds.
Here is some info that should help you out. The 3-Some set up is one of our most popular set ups. It will edge out the 2 pairs of 80's a bit in volume. But provides fuller sound. As the 485 has a ton of mid bass and the compression driver is much larger with a larger horn so it provides fuller sound and wider dispersion.
Also, many like the look of the 3-Some on their towers.
Others like the look of the 4 PRO 80's as many like the conventional 4 speaker set up. The 4 PRO 80's is really loud as well, really loud.
Sound wise. They are close with the 3-Some having more mid bass and fuller sound. But both really loud.
So either way sound wise, you can't go wrong. So I would look at it from the looks side and see which one you think will look better on your boat.
There are a ton of pics on our site so you can take a look at the various set ups and see from there.
Also, you can look at the SYN amp and they will give you ideas on what to use to power which set up. SYN-6 or SYN-4 for 3-Some. Syn-2 for 2 pairs of 80's

Tim,
We ordered my 2nd 09 Malibu with the Metcraft tower bullets. I should replace those with some Wetsounds don't you think? The boat should have dual amps what is best on a Malibu?

Ed,
Well of course! The best combo for a Bu is 2 pairs of PRo 60 X in the factory locations. These will bolt right up to the factory spots.
You can go for a single pair of 80X and some do the 80X and 60X in the factory spots as they just barely fit. To do 2 pairs of 80's, you have to go with a 80X in the lower factory spot and a pair of regular 80's on the cross bar.
So most go for the two pairs of 60X becuase you can go in the factory locations and it provides a great combo of factory look with the output.
Let me know on the amps. I am not sure what they are doing this year for the tower amp. If it is a 4 ch, you could probably bridge it for one of the towers. But would leave you needing another amp for the other pair.
So might be best to go for a SYN-2 and run both pairs of towers off it.
Let me know!
Tim

How different is the sound from a 2x80 & 2x60 vs 4x80's?.....Have heard a boat with 2 x80's and it sounded pretty good...
I am looking at 24 LSV's and my current 23 LSV has 2 NVS Entity's 1010's...its very loud....I am thinking I am may give up a bit with the 60/80 combo but I like the plug/play factory locations and the lighter weight... |

I would go with either the 2 pairs of 60X if you are after the factory fit and locations and head room is a concern. Stepping up to the 2 pairs of 80's with one being 80X in the lower spot and one being the 80 on the crossbar using the built in swivels is going to give you a lot more sound and be more in line with what you had or even louder. Going with the 2 80's takes some headroom away but you can see pics on our site of Bu's with that set up on the Illusion and you can really push them out of the way.
