LIBERTY, Mo. -- A Valero gas station that closed Friday in Liberty sold off its gasoline for $1.98 a gallon.

The gas station is located at 609 South 291 Highway.

According to a news release, the partners who own the gas station closed it to show their support for the environment and the movement toward electric cars.

"We will no longer support the oil and gas industry," said Dr. Milton Grin in the news release. "The electric car industry is what I believe in and I personally own and drive electric cars."

Grin and Shalom Vaknin are partners in the gas station.

What sucks about that is I only started driving 6 years ago, yet still remember when gas was under $1/gallon. Sad
