So I had to restore my computer.

Now my 1 100GB hard drive is partitioned into 2 parts. The C:/ drive which has only enough room for everything in it (C:/windows, ect.) and an E:/ drive with has the remainder.

Where can I get a free partitioning software capable of either deleting or resizing the partitions and how do I use the damn things.

the hdd manufacturer's website should have the software to delete partions, as well as windows xp install process. but, the only way to resize the partition is to delete the partition. and when you delete the partition, you lose everything on the hdd.

If you can find a copy of the Acronis Partitioning software, you can partition on the fly as well. It pay-for software, but perhaps one of your IT guys has a copy you can borrow. If you don't have any luck in your own area's...PM me and I am pretty sure I ahve a copy I can get you via FTP.

I used partitionmagic and it fked up my drive. I'll never use a repartitioning software again. Copy the data you want to another drive, delete both partitions and then create a new full sized one.

The software corrupted a high percentage of the files on my computer, they looked like they were there but the data was a scrambled mess.

Better yet.

Ghost the information you want to an external hdd. Repartition using an XP/Vista install disk. Then push the Ghosted partition back on to the drive.
