Carpet flattening (sp)

Does anyone know what you can do to keep the carpet like it is the first couple of times you use is. In other words how do you keep the carpet from flattening out, or how to get it back to the like-new days?

Brush it in the opposite direction with a wire brush, or strong scrub brush. I do not really think there is anything you can do that will permenantly stop it from flattening.
