I just purchased a 2004 malibu wakesetter. This is my 3rd season wakeboarding but this is the first season behind an inboard the other 2 seasons was behind a I/O. I am doing pretty good so far riding I can do 360's and 180's and grabs and what not so I am not a newbie. I have a couple questions about riding behind an inboard

1) what rope length is recommended? I tried last night at 75 feet and the wake seemed super wide I think that I am decent at 65-60 ft. I know that this depends on the rider but I was seeing if anyone had a similar boat and what length they ride at.

2) What speed or rpm do you ride at? I think that we are going to fast when we are pulling someone I think that the speed is almost near 30 and the rpms are near 2500 and this is on the monsoon 340hp motor if that helps. Seems if we go any slower that the wake is to wide and it cant be cleared at all.

3) Also I was wondering if anyone had a similar boat that they can explain how they weight it to get the best wake? Currently all we use is the MLS in the bow that came stock and the wedge.

The approach that we have been using is shorten the rope then make it longer as we are able to get the tricks down w2w. any help will greatly be appreciated.

I have a VLX, 340 monsoon, and I have been riding at 65'-70' at 21 MPH; not sure what the RPM's are at this speed, probably around 2800-3200, so I would guess your speedo is off if it says 30 MPH at only 2,500 RPM (I would guess your speed more like 19MPH).

I have been using full ballasts in the center and rear with about 1/2 in front, I play around with it until the wake sets nice on both sides.

I used the power wedge set at the biggest wake setting for the first time w/o ballasts and I really liked it. The wake was big and steep.
