|
|
Hey all,
Well I was sitting around thinking yesterday about how I can get a Wakeboard/Ski Pylon on my boat as it is an Outboard and has low connections for ski rope. I have looked into the flush mount tri-pod things but the way my boat is setup there is a pretty good chance that wasn't going to work and I don't want to spend money on something that isn't going to work.
Recently I saw this thing that is completely removable and is held in place by ratchet straps, looked pretty cool but cost was up in the $300 range and I wasn't sure that was what I would want to go with.
So I started looking around the house seeing what I could find. In the backyard was the remains of my kids trampoline that was destroyed by a recent storm.
I took a coulpe of the legs and one of the cross bars to create a base and put the foam padding from the trampoline enclosure around it, grabbed a couple of ratchet straps(3) and started going to work, I used other foam pads to cover up the ugly looking ratchets on the straps and with an hours worth of work and crap that was laying around the house I have a pretty darn sturdy pole that stands about 6 feet high from the floor of the boat, I took and hooked up my Y rope to the rear two ratchet strap hooks and that seems to be working nicely.
I am going to try it out this weekend and I will hopefully have some pics and video next week.
Has anyone else tried this kind of setup? I assume it is safe as it is the same basic premise as the $300 removable units online and once I had it install I tried very hard to move it and wouldn't budge at all, it was rocking the boat like crazy though.
With that being said I will take it extremely easy the first few times and see if it moves around at all.
Now I just need to add some weight and we might be looking pretty. |

| I just looked that up on-line and yeah it is very similar to what that looks like. I will post some pics either tonight or tomorrow, I never got a chance to go out this past weekend so no video but sounds like I am going up to the big lake this next weekend, I will get out if the weather permits but if anyone is familiar with Mille Lacs it has to be dead calm day or the chop is just stupid. |

Alright, I must be dumb because I can not get pictures to load to this site. I tried for like an hour last night and again today. I will try again tonight. Any hint as to what I am doing wrong, I always get this fatal error message every time after I select the pictures I want to upload. |
