Hi,
I just recently took the fins off my '04 hyperlite motive and absolutely love the free/loose feel of the board. I'm still a begginer so i want to learn to carve appropriately without the fins on the board. However, where i ride (long island sound), it can get a little bit choppy so i wanted to get some small fins (probably .8") and i've read great reviews about Hyperlites A-wing and P-wing.
My question is....
I want to keep the loose feel of the board but get a little extra traction when the water gets choppier. What is the difference between the A-wing and P-wing and which do you think would be better for me to get the result I want.
Thanks!

I wouldnt bother personally,
The motive has the fin in the middle and will only make a difference really when going in a staight line. The cupped fins on the sides will hold you on your edge when carving.
If the water is rough, just pop your motive fins back on for the super rough days and ride fin-less normally.
I know the motives moulded fins are pretty small but if you can get used to them, it will improve your riding in general.
Hope this helps. I think you would be wasting money on buying fins. _________________ burrrap |

Its pretty much the old premier with smaller moulded fins, it aint that bad, i think its a good board to learn on. _________________ burrrap |

| the longest edge on the a-wing is all the way at the back of the fin, compared to the p-wing which the longest edge is about 5/8 of the way back and has more of a subtle curve to it. the a-wing is basically like a knife. the p-wing will keep that looser feel...the a-wings are nice but when i tried them on my One, it was wayyyy too tight for me. slapped on the p-wings and it breaks loose a lot easier. |
