| That would be hard to do... you'd have to have a pretty big school to have enough people interested. I wish someone would do that in my school, though. |

| Talk to your school and ask them if they would support it first then I guess talk to local shops and see if they will sponsor the club. Make sure you also have enough boats and find people to help you run it. |

Jeff,
I was the President of the water ski team here at Kansas State for two years. There are actually more people that are interested than many would beleive. We have a campus with about 23,000 and could easily have a team of more than 100 if we could support wakeboarders more. The hardest part is you need to have boats. We get help from people in the community. The first step is to go to the school and start a club. Here you need an advisor that works for the university in some position to oversee club activities. Clubs can get anywhere from $1,000 to $12,000 a year here, depending on size and other factors. Don't expect that anywhere, as some of the midwest's best skiing schools get $0 - $1,000. Collegiate Water Skiing is much more organized and has a lot more $$ that collegiate wakeboarding. Collegiate wakeboarding is still on the ground floor. The last 2 National Championships in Wisconsin have only had about 14 schools compete and every team is invited, where 25 schools qualified for the Collegiate Skiing National Championships in Austin in October out of over 100 schools with active teams nationwide. If your school has a ski team, the best might be to get involved with them to get started and then break off from there. Wakeboard teams and ski teams cannot continue as one entity, is just does not work, but they can help you get started, as they would probably have boats, etc. If you need anymore info, drop me an e-mail at nrh8695@ksu.edu.
Sorry the post was so long. |

Yeah that would be awesome if someone could do it. My school is SO small. We have only one class in each grade K-12, but the good part is you're always with your friends, (except when you switch classes) Me and my friend are the only ones in my whole that I know of that actually are in the sport _________________ ...Wahoo!
