| i originally got the ronix coy but when they delivered it to me, it was cracked...i sent it back and ordered a new one..some shipping misfortunes came up so i just scratched it. got my money back and bought the ronix covin from the local board shop. its a 133 and good God is it aggressive. i put the white ronix rise bindings on it and i think it looks sick. i want an aggressive board because i dont want to have to buy or "upgrade" later. what do you all think? |

tashi_sotiris,
My friend rides the covin and he loves it. It's much like my 3ds, except it's a little more locked in. It's a nice fast board though. You should enjoy it. The majority of girls boards are the same shapes as guys with different graphics anyways.

Yup, thats exactly right. But I often wonder if constructing boards designed for the different center of gravities is something worth looking into.
Also, I'm a girl and I think she's hot too. So there! |

haha, why thank you craig-r, mmm84, hhidave. yeah i figured it was more a graphics thing, but what girl boards out there are just as aggressive as mens boards? I mean, this covin has a pretty edgy 3 stage rocker and cuts really deep and snappy. would you rather have more pop or a board that will launch you into the flats? i think this covin will force me to be quicker in my deliveries.. _________________ last week, i landed a tootsie roll and a 1080...visually.. |

Def straight up pop than into the flats
A clean landing on the other wake is <3... rather than beating your knees up by landing in the flats every time. |

tashi_sotiris,
The covin doesn't have a 3 stage. It's continuous. I personally like going out into the flats |

yeah your right, it is a continuous hybrid..whatever that specifically means. its obviously not as an abrupt pop like a 3 stage but what does a continuous offer differently than a 3 stage? |

tashi_sotiris, Continuous Rockers are usually faster, smoother and land softer. 3 stage usually gives you a little kick off the wake but can be inconsistent. They also land harder and are almost always slower. But they are perfect for going wake to wake. If you want to go into the flats at all get a continuous. Also I feel like continuous rockers are really easier to ride in most cases.
Also I feel like girls boards are pretty pointless they are just different graphics. I almost want to ride the Coy in protest. _________________ www.nationsfoundation.org

(for those who didn't already realize it, yes I am a girl)
I have a Ronix Ibex 134 and it has the silver top sheet. My binding are white LF Minx with the pink trim. I think the combo on the board looks pretty sick. |

tashi_sotiris,
From what I can tell from riding both the covin and the 3ds, the covin is extremely similar to the 3ds. It's a very fast board that is locked in with stock fins, but can be a little looser with smaller fins. It is a good board for putting you in the flats.
The reason these two models are similar is because the 3ds was Chad Sharpes model with Hyperlite, and the covin is his with Ronix. |

I think anyone can really learn to ride any board, just spend some time on it. You'll notice different subtleties between all boards, but you'll do fine on that covin. I also think you should take a trip to orlando and demo some more ronix boards at OWC _________________

that would be absolutely awesome. I am going to a cable park in kansas city in a few weeks but i hear the cable parks down in orlando are saweet! Now, if i really wanted to get into this i guess i would have to practice year round. how would i even go about with training and doing so with someone who has a half a clue? |

Yeah, you'd probably need to move to central FL which is ground zero for wakeboarding, at least on the east coast. Plenty of camps, coaches, pros, boats, and OWC. Year round riding too, though in January of '07 I went to O-dub for a couple of days and it was 45 DEGREES!!!
Hey Luke, does that offer go for me too or just the hot girl? We'll be back down in September unless we can put together a quick turnaround to O-dub before then. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com

Orlando is pretty sweet. I live here UCF ftw
OWC is an awesome place to help your riding, you can get intruction on the boat, practice on cable...
Theres also atleast 2-3 camps around here that you can go to. I know HHI Dave has been to the Clermont one ( which is where im from when im not in school ) I have heard good things about that.
Also the one in Groveland Florida, which is the Hansens wakeboard camp ( Trevor hansens family), my gf went to school and is really good friends with trevors sister. They are really good people and have a sweet setup with 2 lakes, sliders, plenty of boats.. |

yeah that would def. be nice. i just might look into that. now how much are cable parks different than riding behind a boat. im going to my first one in a few weeks. how are the speeds determined ect... also, if im going to try and grind a few rails, seem like a good place to start, should i use my new ronix covin or use another shitty board so i dont f it up? the covin has the quad fins so im not sure how that works on ramps, kickers, rails ect... thoughts? _________________ last week, i landed a tootsie roll and a 1080...visually.. |

At OWC cant have fins more than 1.5 inches or something, so you should be fine with that
However, hitting sliders / rails / ramps voids the warranty of the board...
Riding behind a cable isnt too much different, the pull of the rope is directed up more so it uses different muscles from what i've found. The day after cable riding my upper body/ abs are sore, as with the boat, my lower back is alot more sore.
From riding aspects tho, not much different |

tashi_sotiris, You could use your covin, but as penguin said it'd void the warranty. Being a light girl, you're probably not gonna be cracking it in half or anything like that, but if something stupid goes wrong in the future like an insert stripping out, you're not gonna be able to get it replaced for free. Are you going to KC watersports? they have demo gear there, so your best bet would be to rent a board for a few bucks and tear up their gear instead of your own. As for your fins, if you do ride it, finless is the way to go for sliders, the fiberglass fins on 08 ronix boards break pretty easily. _________________

yeah i forgot that it voids the warranty. well, i might just demo their board and abuse it good. what happens if you damage one of their boards? also, so this covin board is very fast and edgy and when i edged into the wake as fast as i could it sent me flailing into the flats which i have never done and my nose went first. I took the worst chest plant i could imagine. and i didnt think much of it but the wind knocked out of me..well its been day 3 and i cant move really well or breathe deep or touch it hard without pain. I know if i fractured a rib i couldnt move so what do you think happened? i got back on it yesterday but only could carve around because when i jump and land its baaaaad pain. i dont want to go to the doctor so they can give me tylenol. prob just strained a muscle bad or bruised rib? this blooooooooooooooowz _________________ last week, i landed a tootsie roll and a 1080...visually.. |

i wish it didnt happen! my bf said edge through the wake as hard as i can. so my ass was a few inches off the water i didnt ease up and i know how to stand at the top of the wake and then i went flying like a ragdoll. he also popped my speed up to around 24. but im not sure wat is considered "flats" i mean, it was like 5 + ft past the wake.. haha it was cool experience but also not that cool _________________ last week, i landed a tootsie roll and a 1080...visually.. |

tashi_sotiris, go to the doc and have them check it out to make sure you just have broken or bruised ribs and no internal injuries. Then tell them the pain is really unbearable and they'll give you a bottle of new "friends" to take home with you _________________ If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular? |

I consider that the flats.
Nothing cooler than a girl who takes a beating on the water and comes back for more. Other than pros, I've only met a couple like that so far.
As far as the cable park, I think its VERY different than riding behind a boat. The first time I went to O-dub, I'd only been wakeboarding for about 6 months. Lets just say, it wasn't pretty. By the third or fourth time, I'd been riding for a couple of years. Its fun hitting the little kicker and ollying over the barrel, but that funbox still kicks my butt. Though I did make it "almost" all the way across it last time. _________________ Hilton Head Wake Sports.com
