Went out today, for only the 2nd time this year. Sad pathetic...June 25 and only my 2nd time out...i hate this damn weather. Doesn't help our lake is only big enough for 1 boat to be riding or it gets rough quick.
But anyways, I was workin on riding switch and 180s today. first i need to get the 180s down so i can ride switch Laughing I get the board turned good IMO but idk what happens after that.

So here is my first question...
What do I need to do after I get the board turned?! I take my back hand off so I only have my right hand on (I ride regular). I switch my weight to my left foot so I dont catch the front of the board. But I can only ride a lil bit before i have to switch back or i will biff. Tips? or I am doing it right just need practice? Would the fact that I am using a ski rope have anything to do with it? Anything I can do when Im NOT on the water to help?

I have been trying to get a non stretch rope, but my parents won't let that thought even leave my mouth...always saying. "its no different" "every rope stretches" "dont want it to stretch? lets just use a steel chain" lol

I am the only person in my family that wakeboards so I tell them they don't kno what they are talking about and that its a lot different but they don't believe. So needless to say i have no clue how much a real wake rope really helps and feels.

so 2nd question...any ideas how i can get them to change their minds? I cant go to any board shops, we dont have any in this town...might have one in Lincoln, but not sure.

3rd thing
I was trying to do the inside out stuff, but I'm not getting enough pop. How do you edge when doing inside out jumps? is it like the edge when going w2w?

Last thing...how do you break in bindings? I thought they were broke in...but today I found out i dont think they are. My left foot starting hurting on the outside while riding. and then when i would get done riding my same ankle woudl be soar on the outside. Maybe it is because I have only been out 2 times this year? BTW I am using standard bindings.

Thanks a lot in advance!!

Get up switch. its easy as cake. all you do is dont straiten the board out right away, let it stay perpindicular to the boat until your almost at speep that turn. Make sure you have fins think 60/40 on weight. are you old enough to drive???do you have 80 bucks. Just go buy one your self. Tell your parents im goin to the board shop be back in a couple hours. Not sure about the bindings but the roe will make a big diff.

Try to ollie a little for i/o jumps. dont cut too hard though.

Gotta disagree with the advice about the rope. It makes little/no difference in just riding and trying surface 180's. It only makes a difference when it comes to big jumps, IMHO. For the switch riding, keep your back hand off the handle while riding switch. This will help you keep the backside of the board from sliding out. Once you get a bit of a feel for switch riding, you can put your back hand on the handle again but then you need to concentrate on holding the rope handle nice and low on your front hip.

You really should be doing this when riding regular as well-a good fundamental habit to build. You should always ride with the handle on the front hip, whether regular or switch. When I first started riding switch, the backside of the board would slide out all the time. I found I was holding the rope straight out in front of me and chest high. Moving it down to the hip cured a lot of that.

Good luck, and worry about the rope stretch later. It isn't holding you back right now. Just keep riding and practicing.

I'm with pet575 - there are plenty of people on here who will tell you about lots of new kit that will make some huge difference to your riding. None of it will have a significant effect on your riding at this stage. A huge deal is made out of the stretch line thing, mostly on the newbie board where everyone would dearly love to believe it is why they fall over all the time - of course it isn't. Yes it is better to have a non-stretch line in due course, and it will help (a little bit) with a bunch of airs, but the idea that it will make a difference riding switch is just fanciful.
Anytime someone tells you to buy some new kit, force them to watch this at gunpoint...

If you really want to spend some cash improving your switch riding, go to a cable park, buy an all day ticket and ride round until your arms fall off forcing yourself to do absolutely nothing but switch. Boring as hell but worth it...
