|
|
My son has wiped me out with getting new subs, a box, and now a new amp. I am broke. Now he needs Dynamat to stop the trunk rattle.
Is there an alternative (as in cheap way to achieve the same result)? Or, does anyone have some for sale, cheap?
We could also possibly trade some gear of equal value. Let me know what you've got.
Thanks!

You can even buy asphalt based roof repair rolls. Theyre the same thing as dynomat, foil backed and everything. It even sticks well as long as its heated. You can find it at home depot or lowes. Although occasionally you can find dynomat, brownbread, or e-dead for cheaper online. _________________ Long Island, NY & Canada Lake, NY (addirondacks)

And that also makes your car smell like the highway once it gets hot inside. Not a good idea.
Returned that PM Lauri. |

Not true at all. Most sound deadeners are indeed asphalt based. Do your homework. _________________ Long Island, NY & Canada Lake, NY (addirondacks)

| GuitsBoy, have you done this? Personally I don't think it's a good idea because of what jonyb stated, and it's a REAL pain to remove this sort of stuff once it's installed. |

I've been running an asphalt based product in the doors of my truck for 4 or 5 years now. Can't say I have ever smelt it in hot weather or any weather for that matter. You do smell it when you are applying it but after that you won't notice a thing. I got mine for free, so it was the way I went. I doubt you'd have a problem, if you can find it for cheaper than the marketed "Sound dampner" then do it. _________________ Riders Inc. |

GuitsBoy, considering Jonyb has one of the most badass stereo setups, and everything I've seen him do is top shelf, I'm gonna follow his recommendations.
Do your homework, he knows his stuff. |

Yes, have personally done it in two of my own vehicles. Ive installed well over two dozen quality setups. Ive had five personal vehicles in 2 - 3.5 KW range, mostly set up for SQ and SQL. Ive done my share of fiberglass installs, tuned vented enclosures and even transmission lines. Im no stranger car audio.
If you worry about using asphalt based roof patch, then simply pony up for a name brand deadener. IMO I believe all asphault or mass based deadeners essentially function the same way, and ive been happy using the asphalt stuff without issue. I dont mean to take anything away from jonyb, but I dont believe the hype behind the expensive deadeners. I dont believe they offer any real world benefit.
Again, I mean no disrespect. Just my opinion based on my own experiences with the stuff. _________________ Long Island, NY & Canada Lake, NY (addirondacks)

I've always used Stinger over the years and in the early 2000's they had a product out that would stink up a car in a hurry...... The price on all this stuff has gone up though. Accessories in the car audio dept. almost make installs unaffordable. |
