I can not get the panel off that is next the the captains chair. It is the big panel that surrounds the throttle assembly. I am removing it so I can rebuild it and put new vinyl on it. Any ideas hot to get this off? It appears the hole for the throttle assembly is smaller than the throttle assembly (i.e., the assembly needs to come off first) but I can't find any way to remove the throttle assembly, HELP! I'm almost done rebuilding ym interior and I cant get this peice off!

ScottyB_RochNY, I meant to take a look at mine today. If I remember right the shifter is held on by a lock key on a shaft. It slides off, and I believe you have to remove the whole vinyl area to get to the bolts holding the rest of the throttle backing plate on.

I'll take a look later today at mine and see what I can come up with.

I removed mine [1989 Sunsport] to install the tower. That panel is held on by
through bolts with 7/16 nuts between the inner and outer hull. you can get to
the front nut by reaching from under the dash. The rear was impossible to
reach even if you got the nut off you would never get it back on. I cut an
access hole behind the interior upholstered panel to install the rear tower mount.
Then I could reach the nut. I reinforced the hole from the backside with
fiberglass covered plywood to prevent any structure issues. I used a rotozip
tool to cut the hole then put the piece back in with screws for future access.
