When i hit the wake should i be trying to jump off the wake or should i just stand tall and try not to absorb the wake?
Could also use some tips on how to get more air off the wake in general.

You wanna hit the wake on edge but you do not want to slice through it. At the top of the wake you should extend evenly off of both feet. Do NOT make a sudden jumping motion it will cause you to lose your pop and fall because it will put you in a bad position.

you gotta keep your lets stiff, but edge up the wake thinking about launching off it. Trying to ollie or jump off wont do any good. Also i dip my nose down right before i get to the wake and the energy of it coming back up helps right when launching off the wake. Danny harf uses this technique, its pretty cool to watch.

If you search, there's already a lot of posts on this. This is what I wrote in one a few days ago:
1. Do a progressive edge( http://www.wakeboarder.com/display.phtml?id=50 )
2. Make sure you edge ALL THE WAY through the wake and dont let off your edge at all. Every tiny bit you let off your edge is a lot less air you get.
3. Stand tall at the wake so as to not absorb it with your knees.
4. Remember, its line tension, not speed that gets you air. When you're cutting in, dont think of it as cutting in towards the wake, but as leaning back trying to rip the tower off the boat.
5. Practice
