I met a guy in the rental industry a few years back. He said whatever you do never rent from U-Haul.

This is a long but very informative read. Especially for kids going to college in a few months.

Never rent anything from U-Hell.

muckmeister, they just settled a lawsuit for faulty routine maintenance on one of their trucks that caused a drivers death.

I'm moving right now and trying to decide who's truck I'm going to rent for a weekend. I've done the U-Hell thing several times before and never had a problem, they certainly aren't as nice of trucks, though. Their fleet certainly doesn't LOOK like it's been cared for, so I guess this sort of confirms it.

If it is local, I go with a private local company. If not, I like Penske. Plus he is rich just in case your stuff fails! Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

Penske, use them all the time. Swear by them. Not one complaint after using them for 5 years straight.

I've used both Budget and Penske. I'd recommend either.

NEVER U-HELL.

We used Budget to move from LV to Sac back in 03. Truck was diesel, auto, and had less than 10k on it. Was super easy to deal with.

We just used Penske for my bro's move from Sac to Austin. Truck was less than 2 years old, had 30k on it, was spotless, and worked perfectly.

we were moving this old ladies stuff because she was too old. Anyways, someone, before we rented it, put unleaded in a diesel moving van. IT SAYS "DIESEL FUEL ONLY" EVERYWHERE!
