I've got the stock ballast in my 07 Supra Launch 24SSV Gravity Games. What's the best way to weight it? Not exactly for a huge wake, but to lose the washout. There's one bow sac, and 2 rears. I normally fill the rears, then keep the trim plate all teh way up and the front bag empty, but it washes out pretty bad on one side.

Any ideas?

You should fill the center sac also.

On our 24 we would fill everything and then to the trim plate around 1/2 and then adjust from there. You might need to add in some lead or a Fat Brick to adjust the wash on the single side.

Do you ride with any people in the boat? If so start sliding those people around to eliminate the wash.

When I have people riding I adjust them but can only keep one side smoothed out.

I'm gonna experiment with it this weekend to see what works. Probably won't add any extra weight as I'm gonna work with what I've got.

You should fill the front=rear. At slower speed you will need to put the plate down but not all the way always leave 1/8. All the way down is for skiing

How fast are you riding at? Faster=less washout, along with equally weighting it left to right. I'd fill the front sack 1/2 and the rears 1/2 to start, but I wouldn't leave the front empty. Then if one side washes out fill up that side's rear sack a bit more.

I ride at 24, and others ride at 22-23 by the speedo. I haven't GPS'd it to see how accurate it is though.

I'll try the half/half for now.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Here's a pic... 5 people plus the driver (2 port side, and 3 starboard side) with no ballast and PP set at 22mph.

the more weight you have in the rear, the faster you'll need to ride or else it will be so steep that it will wash out. You should definitely be putting weight up front. That will make the wake more rampy and not as prone to washing out.

But in the picture, you'll always have a little bit of wash on the other wake if you're cutting out/in on the other side. You're kind of tilting the boat lower on the side you are edging on because of the force from the rope on the tower. But again, the faster you go the less prone that is to occur.

My advice is to take out half from the rear and fill the front up completely and speed up a bit if you're ok with that and see how it is. If you want a bit more kick then put some more weight in the rear and if you're getting launched in the flats too much lengthen the rope up a bit too.

Here's a pic with no edging, but it's about 20-21 because that's a wakeskate, not a board. I understand the wash on the opposite edging side, but it seems like it's really thick on the port side.

yea that's not good, was there also only 2 people on the port side and 3 on the driver side? Try having everyone (except the driver of course) sit on the port side where the wash is. If that doesn't cut it, let some weight out of the starboard rear tank and fill up the port rear tank until it cleans up.

Blindside_137, there were actually 2 plus the driver starboard, one in the rear center, one rear port, and one mid port. I'll try that. Thanks for the tips!!!

well good luck! take some pics this weekend and let us know how it goes!

load up the front, a little less in the rear, and move people to the side with wash and if necessary fill ballast in the side with wash. I want to see what that wake can look like! Twisted Evil

Jonyb - Yea on the pic above where the rider is in the middle, you need more weight on passanger side or less weight on drivers side.

One the way out from the dock, I always ask the first rider to sit in the middle of the boat to check the wake and I move people around to get it right. Always add weight to the side that curls.

i've got a 1100 lb sack in the front with 400lbs of lead and a 750 lb sack on either side of the engine. i only fill the rear sacks about 2/3s of the way. i wouldnt recommend riding with the plate any higher that 50% up. we ride at 22.6 to 23.2.

The trick is to keep about 200lbs weight movable like a fly high 155lb brick. You need to put some more weight on the washy side. Have a person move over, or else fill one side sac more than the other.

I haven't ridden any new wake boats but on my 87 Supra SunSport, they have such a deep vee in the nose that I really think bow weight helps quite a bit.

Is this a Supra/Moomba problem, or is it common on most wake boats?

Changed some things around this week and it helped out. I guess I've been scared to fill the front for fear of a wider wake at 65'. 75% full up front, 50% full each side in the rear, and asses in the right seats helped out. Less wash, not as rampy, but still tall.

I appreciate everyone's input on this. This is about the best pic I could find.

jonyb, nice! If you want it more rampy you can load up the rear a bit more if it was only at 50%. but glad we could help! and nice pictures! Twisted Evil

Jonyb, from your last pic you need to either adjust your rope length or speed. I suggest bump up your speed about 1mph and it will clean up even more. Reguardless your wake should be about 8 feet wide and it looks about 10-12.

The guy on the rope has only ridden twice, so we had it shortened and were only going 21.

aren't they really strict on beer on boats in KY? I've heard they have ridiculous rules like no beer on the boat at all if there is anyone underage on board

I don't carry any underage people in teh boat...... We're all old as hell Laughing

You may be thinking of KY lake, which is in a dry county, but the water patrol and Coast Guard never make an issue of it unless you act like an idiot.
