its not hard. cut my wood to shape to make the concave.
i didnt want to use to big of a piece so i make 4 and glue them down onto the board one at a time

I was going to make a wakeboard for my daughter in a couple of years. My idea for the bindings was this:
Get some t-nuts (pronged or not), and mount them in between the layers of the board. The only problem is the bases on t-nuts are not that big so it could pull out in a nasty wipeout. This probably wouldn't be a problem for her first board that she is just learning on. However, I thought you could just tach (weld) the t-nut to a thin piece of metal maybe 4"X4" so it doesn't add to much weight. Then cut the 4 inch square out of one of the inner plys in the board. The only problem is getthing the thickness right. I will make it out of 1/16" wood, but I probably would want to use thinner metal for the 4x4 plate so I would have to plane down some wood to fill the rest of the cut out so it would be tight between all the plys. Did that make any sense? I could maybe make a drawing.
T-Nuts:
Nice work on the boards by the way. I need to post pics of mine finished.

The Evil Monkey is Born. Here is the final product minus the tape. Definitely learned a lot on the first one, and look forward to improving the next one.

Nooga678, you'll probably want to sand the channels down in the middle of the board.. so water can flow more freely and not drag.
nice work though! is that a screen print graphic?

I printed the graphic on regular white paper. Then I did the trick where you take a thick lead pencil and trace the image on the back of the paper. Then you tape the image on the board pencil side down. Take the pencil and scrible really hard over all the lines, transplanting the pencil mark on the bottom of the sheet to the board. Then I painted with acylic paint. It worked well enough to get the image on the board.
The channels are something I will definitely do different next time. I cut those out of the bottom sheet before even glueing them together. Basically the bottom sheet looked like an "H" before the glue up. It is only 1/8" thick so not having it smooth in the middle isn't really a problem. Next time I am going to do them with a router such that they start deeper at the tips and fade out to nothing towards the middle.

Those are all pretty impressive. Good job guys.
My deck is starting to wear out but I don't think I have the time for something like this.

What material is used for the deck? Plywood?

I stacked up tapered pieces of plywood and then sanded for ever. I should have gone 1 or 2 more pieces high, it doesn't really have a lot of concave. I also cut a rectangle out of the top layer before glueing to be the first taper, but I don't think I would do that again.
Prizzy
I used 1/8" Luan which is dirt cheap at $8 a sheet. I made the whole board out of one sheet. I wanted to use 1/8" birch, but they were out. This one was a learning process so I am not too worried if it doesn't hold up, but it seems to be doing fine. I am going to try one out of 1/4" because there is a lot more would options. Not sure if it will hold its rocker as well, but I am going to give it a shot.

mine was 15 and i used the most expensive wood. next time im going to but in bulk so it should be a lot less.
Nooga678, i used 1/4 in ply and it worked fine and its not even 10 dollars a sheet. i think that im going to get 2 sheets of 1/4 in ply and 1 sheet of 1/8 in ply. i want it to be just a little bit thicker and the rest of the 1/8 ply im going to use for concave. what glue did you use?

Kyle Kearns, Plywood $8, Glue $8, Sandpaper $7, Epoxy $15, GripTape $7. Those are rough estimates and assuming you already have the needed tools. The jig (seen in background of last picture) cost some money as well for the wood, but you only have to build that once if you like the rocker. Plus I got most of the wood out of the scrap bin at Home Depot and had the 1/4" MDF laying around.
I am not very good on a skate so I can't really judge how well it rides. It is much shorter than my buddies board and I put much more round edges on it. It rides alot more squirly than his, but those are the only two boards I have ridden.
tpj, I just used Titebond III. I will keep you updated on any delamination issues. I read about people using expoxy resin, but didn't want to spring for that much epoxy. Also, expoxy resin relies on having space between the pieces to make a strong bond, so it probably would not have been the best choices since I was clamping it together in a jig. I figured if you coat the board in epoxy well, then you shouldn't have to worry about the glue you used. I really wanted to try gorilla glue, but I was worried about getting it spread across the whole sheet since it foams up.
Did you use 3 layers of 1/4"? The one I just made isn't 3/4" and I don't think I would want a board that thick, especially if adding concave. If a 1/2 board isn't still enough, I like the idea of two 1/4" and one 1/8" sheet. I also thought about going two 1/4" and a layer of fiberglass on the bottom.
Let me know how it works out.
