I have been trying a hs backroll for sometime.
I am always landing on my hs edge after completing the roll, the board keeps sliding out.
Seems like my form is wrong but I can not figure it out.
Any suggestions?

Sounds like the rotation is going a bit off and the board is getting right in front of you as you come in to land.
I found I would do that a lot when I tried to "throw" it too early and by using my shoulders to try and initiate the rotation. Work on leading the rotation with your hip, not your shoulders, and try and get that landing spotted nice and early... |

Thank's man that is exactly what is happening each time.
I will try using my hips. I read somewhere you were supposed to lead with
your head rotation by looking over your front shoulder
Thanks again. |

It is kinda confusing. You lead the rotation with your head, but this sends your hips - see lengthy post to huevo on this forum. But there is a difference between pushing your hips up by looking over your shoulder and throwing it by opening out your shoulders.
Just hold an imaginary handle in front of you. Look up and over your left shoulder (if regular) but keep the "handle" pointed towards the front. Feel how your hips rotate? Now try it not keeping the handle in front of you, but looking up and over your left shoulder by opening your shoulders and twisting at the waist. Feel how there is no rotation in your hips?
That is the difference between the two, and that is why the rotation goes out the back and the board comes round in front. Also it screws up your handle position - if you open your shoulders up the handle tends to get pushed away from you. Keep it right on your hip until after you have spotted the landing - this tends to keep those shoulders closed too. |

The key here is putting the handle at your lead hip. A straight backroll naturally wants to go to revert so what you are probably doing is landing facing the boat a bit and causing you to skip out. Keep the rope at your hip through the rotation and it will keep you facing the direction you are going. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |
