My friend just bought a really nice Tige, and it rides nice makes great wake, and turns clean. Here is the problem, what is max speed before I am looking at serious injuries. At 17 to 20 MPH I dont feel like I am getting enoug speed to get the board out of the water.

Thanks i appericate any advice...

That should be plenty fast enough. You might want to try getting up to about 22 and see if you notice a difference. If it feels like the board is sitting really low in the water, you may be riding too small of a board. What is your weight & height and what size board are you riding?

I am riding a 139 Hyperlite, I am 5' 11" around 210 lbs, I rented a 144 CWB Faction the end of lat year and it was an easier board to ride, but after speaking to the guy I rented it from I should notice that big of a difference. I really am not sure, but it may be the board.

Yeah, I would say that the board you are riding is probably big enough. The bigger the board the more you will glide across the top of the water, but you want to find a balance between that and maneuverability that you are comfortable with. I'd say if you like the board you ride, stick with it and try increasing your speed to get on top of the water more.

Thanks for the tip, is there an idiots guide to what I need for a board, what type of rocker I need, and staging stuff like that? I need a board I can grow into, stable with good tracking and easy to use but not so basic it limits me to w2w jumping...Any suggestions?

Try the board finder in this thread...

Then I would suggest going to local shops and set the differences in the boards and see what might fit your riding style. Narrow down to a few and do demos of the few boards you narrowed down to.

at 210 you might like the bigger board.
i like to ride around 18-19. but alot of the new boats dont really set the wake until 21-22+
