Hey guys. As some of you know, I've recently started working at The Wakeboard Camp in Florida as a coach. As a computer geek myself, I've often thought that it would be cool to have a thorough instructional site for wakeboarding. I wanted to do it, but the task always overwhelmed me. To do it right meant shooting a lot of video and making a nice interactive site for people to use so they could get better.
Well, Kyle Schmidt and Mike McLin have been hard at work for a number of months and now they are about to launch a great instructional site. The address is:
http://www.learnwake.com/
It officially launches on April 1. Right now you can register an account and check it out for free. It's going to be a paid membership site, $10/month or $99/year or so I think. There's a lot of stuff they're working on putting up, but the basic structure is in place, so go give it a test run.

| HHI Dave, what happens when you try to log in with IE? I just tried and it worked for me. I'll let Kyle know what the problem is if you get it again. |

It registered me just fine for the free Beta account and it logs me into the home page just fine. However, when I try to access a trick it requires another log-in and then won't accept my user name and password? _________________ "I'm not a professional wakeboarder, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn last night". |

Hey, it's Mike McLin, one of the creators of LearnWake...
HHI Dave, the Internet Explorer problem should be fixed. IE was conflicting with one of our plugins.
Nauty, that is a very weird issue. When you say that you are accessing a trick, what do you mean? Are you accessing a trick in the Library, the Video section? What web browser/operating system are you using? Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6?
This is why we are having the free public beta to iron out all of these details before launch. Thank you for helping us identify these problems |

Mike -
I am using Windows XP Professional with Explorer 7.
Here's what's happening.....
- Log-in on the main page
- I then get a message saying that I'm being redirected to a protected area
- Then a page comes up that has a scetion called "Learn Wakes Latest Updates"
- I then click on one of the trick links under the Library module
- I am then asked to log-in again, but when I do my user name and password are not accepted. _________________ "I'm not a professional wakeboarder, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn last night". |

Nauty,
So far I've only been able to accomplish your issue when I turn off cookies in IE7. Have you messed with any of the IE7 settings (like disabling cookies, or bumping your security settings up to high)? Or are you using the stock default IE7 settings?
Also, if you go to our Help page (the link is at the top right of the website when you are logged in), there will be a self-test on the left that will let you know if the website can diagnose any potential problems (like cookies or javascript being turned off, etc). |

I don't ''understand'' the concept of ''free'' with ''credit card'' in the same sentence!!! In an other way, I like Kyle Schmidt! _________________ Stop trying.... just do it!!! |

BIgLaP, I hear ya... Thats why we tried to explain that this is a BETA test period. Our login system is setup to take credit cards, because eventually this will not be a free website. The whole login system is one of the main things we need to test out, so we'd be foolish to disable it during our beta test period. You can already see from this forum that we've ran into a few snags with our login/security system with people not being able to access their accounts and so on. We've been running a very exclusive private beta for a little while now, and we wanted to test it out with as many people as possible before we actually started charging people, to make sure it is rock solid, thats why we've initiated this public beta period.
Please note that we will NOT be charging ANYONE during the BETA test period. The official launch is April 1st. Members that decide they want to stay onboard will be converted to $9.99/month members. Members that cancel before April 1 will not be charged anything. We've tried to outline this very clearly on our sign-up page , and out intent is obviously not to try to mislead anyone. I know you weren't attacking us, and this isn't just a response to you, it is just to let everyone know what we are doing to clear up any confusion in the future. |

MikeMcLin, I am having the same problem as Nauty. I am using the stock IE7 settings - no changes other than allowing the user to download files.
If you need more info, let me know. _________________ If you do not like your job, you don't strike....You just go in there everyday and do it really half a$$ed.....Now that's the American way - Homer Simpson. |

Nauty, I looked at your account status, and it is still marked as "pending". You should've received an email when you signed up with a link to complete the sign-up process (check you junkmail?). I think this might be your problem.
garveyj, your account status is complete and you shouldn't be having any issues. I'm not sure if you have completed signup since your last post here on wakeboarder or not. Is it still not working for you? |
