this was on wake world

Salve e benvenuti to the Dark Core story. From the foot hills of northern Italy lived Alessio, a craftsman of gondolas infamous for a troubled past until one day as folk lore would have it. Stumbling thru the streets he passed upon a good friend of the family, this pizano gave him a secret sauce not to just make a stronger craft but a lighter one. As years went on he was known thru the area of alluring tourist journeys with a smoother voyage, while oarsmen respected the travel of his lighter glide. AlessioÂ’s undisclosed ingredients were lost at some point during the fascist era, only to resurface decades later by our engineers. In honor of his past of scuro we present his lost secret, now stowed in our core.

Flex - Fabricated of a hybrid carbon/glass weave and machined out of our new Dark core blank. The envy of all other cores has a snap you donÂ’t find in a conventional poured foam core. A stiffer lighter alternative sets a higher standard of maintaining a boardsÂ’ structure thru the transition of a wake, rebounding with cushier impacts on bigger airs.

Weight - Up to 20% lighter than our other secret squirrel core. If you canÂ’t pull a 7 because of the boardsÂ’ slender physique you can at least impress everyone in the boat with how light it is.

8:12 Crew Developed - Out team spent this past year tweaking the flex while our engineers made sure it was stronger than any other construction we have ever built. More than just another construction – our team swears by it.

It has a machined pvc core, rather than a poured foam core, which is stronger, lighter, more flexy, and has much more lively snap. The benefit to it being machined rather than poured is that the core has no air bubbles or dense spots, as traditional foam core boards can have. The Byerly Monarch is the same story, and obrien even did this back in the day with a few cirrus core boards.

And another reason wakeboarding is better than surfing, you die less, that means you have another day to wakeboard, which is more fun than surfing anyway.
