I have a four winns also and thought about installing an amp in the same spot, but I am worried about it getting too hot, as once the cushion is put back on there is not alot of air moving around it.
Have you had any problems with the amp shutting down from heat? |

Well I just installed it. There's tons of room in there and air can escape from above and into the gunwalls.
I ran it for about an hour, the amp was just slightly warm. As long as you have heavy ground & power wires there's not much worry.
If worse comes to worse, theres a cooler behind the amp made under the glove compartment. I could just ice down a few cold ones in there. _________________ http://www.youtube.com/greasemonkeytv |

Damn it! I have that exact boat (color and all) and I had a local shop do my stereo, since I have 0 experience w/ vessels and they told me "the biggest sub they could use was an 8 under the rear starboard seat." I'm not real impressed w/ the sub at all and I asked them this year what they thought about putting a free-air sub in the cabin somewhere and they told me that the sealed 8 would hit harder and have a better sq.
Any thoughts? Have you looked under the rear seats...do you think I could fit a 10? and what size is your sub?
BTW- I've got a JL 6450 mounted in the same area except on the port side running 4 cabin JL coax and 2 alpine towers w/ the last two channels bridged for the sub. I just looked up the specs on that Kicker and I HATE YOU! I have all kicker equip in my truck and love it. |

ramos, Sorry I just re-checked the thread. They want to put an 8 under the seat b/c that's the factory FourWinns location for their "stereo upgrade". You will not hear it unless stopped.
I don't see getting a 10" under the seat. Yes, I would like to have a sealed enclosure vs. free air but, this thing sounds terrific!
It is a 10" sub. _________________ http://www.youtube.com/greasemonkeytv |
