|
|
Just wondering if anybody on the forums has been to, or lives in or near West Palm Beach, Florida. I am a college student looking to transfer to a University and so far I have my eye on West Palm Beach as well as a few other area's. I know, I know, "why don't you consider Orlando if your going all the way down there?" Well, I am, but University of Central Florida is tough to get into and I'm just considering all options for school. I'm mainly just wanting info on West Palm; What it's like, if the wakeboarding scene is good, etc. _________________ Live In Your World, See Through Ours - Fusion X Media |

I'm down there quite a bit. Ski Rixen is right around the corner, and there are a few decent lakes. I had a very bad experience on a lake there not too long ago - Lake Ida. I had never seen such bad & dangerous behavior on jetskis - ever. And like many of us, I am around jet skis almost constantly. Never seen anything like what I saw on Lake Ida on a Saturday.
I am sure there are better options than Ida. But Ida seemed to be the big popular one and if I never ride there again I will be quite happy. I can't imagine how there aren't 3 accidents a day on that body of water. |

yeah those jet skiiers get crazier and crazier. That's interesting about Ski Rixen though, I did not know that it was close to West Palm. I'll be taking a trip there soon to tour a school so i'll try and get a glimpse of Lake Ida-but thank you for the heads up. _________________ Live In Your World, See Through Ours - Fusion X Media |

Check out the SFWA (South Florida Wakeboard Association), they are a large group of stoked riders spread out all over that area. _________________ ...island style... |

I live in the West Palm area (Jupiter) but I keep my boat up near Ocala, because the riding is just that much better there!
I experienced the same jet ski madness on lake osborne. There are some canals you can ride on but the water there is just nasty.
There are community colleges that you can go to for a year or two in Orlando/Gainesvill then transfer to the university. |

I have a lot of Family in West Palm (Stewart actually). They seem to like it but have all complained about the cost of living (home prices). My cousin is big into surfing and loves it there. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

I definitely appreciate the info guys. I've heard that West Palm is pretty classy. I'll be visiting soon. Thanks a lot though, everybody has been a big help. _________________ Live In Your World, See Through Ours - Fusion X Media |

I have family in Stuart and have been down there several times.
Seems like a really nice place, but again, cost of living is quite high. City Place in Downtown WPB is pretty cool, but probably for an older crowd from my impression (which may be wrong, I was there during the day).
Houses along the ocean were amazing ... _________________ Impossible is not a a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.
