|
|
I am shopping for a boat, but haven't been able to find a whole lot of boats to compare, so I know a little about pricing, but wanted to get a 2nd opinion.
I would like to buy something under $30k
I have found an 03 Malibu Wakesetter with the factory Ballast, Perfect Pass, and less than 100 hours. It is 22', has a 5.7 liter, and wake tower of course.
Price is $28,500
It's got everything I want and appears to be in perfect condition, the only thing I'm not crazy about is the color combo, but I can live with that.
Should I jump on this boat or am I likely to find other boats with similar prices later this Spring if I continue shopping?
Thanks! |

which wakesetter?
the Direct Drive, plain ol' "Wakesetter", or another model? VLX, LSV, XTI, etc...?
By the price I would have to guess it's a d-drive wakesetter.... |

| If it is a Wakesetter VLX or any sort of LSV jump on it ASAP if it is a direct drive still not a bad deal but not a steal. What color is it? |

I know it is a direct drive, and not a V drive.
I dont know if it might possibly be another model. I think probably standard wakesetter, are there different models of the dd wakesetter? Sorry for the newb questions...
The color is white/black/green
Thanks for the replys |

In that case....
I'd offer 27,000.00
28.5 is a bit on the steep side for that boat. |

| Pictures would not be a bad thing to let us see exactly what the boat is. |

K-dub, just out of curiosity, how much would price vary by location? I know you know prices in your area, but wakeskateordie doesn't say where he is. If he were in, oh, Nebraska, do you think the price the seller could get would be the same?
(I'm thinking that autos would vary, but I don't know if boats would since they are not as plentiful and a buyer is more likely to travel farther in the used market. Or am I mistaken?) _________________

gswake, in the case of a used boat, not so much...if there is a difference it would be very slight. The used market on boats is huge now with the use of the internet, and companies willing to deliver them for a small fee. New market is a dirfferent story though...
In the case of "this" boat, the high book on it is 27k. If in fact it does have 100hrs, and is "showroom" clean, with the very small list of options on the boat...I would say offer no more than 27k. Other things to think about are, this boat is a direct drive. Depending on how long it's been listed, i'd say the seller wants to REALLY get rid of it, and will take a lowball offer. Also, the fact that the economy is in the crapper right now for the most part. People aren't buying boats like they used to, and there are ALOT of people DYING to sell thier luxury items to ease the hit on the pocket book every month....
I'd say take a shot at the lowball. You probably have a very good chance in getting a better deal on it.
No way in hell i'd pay 28.5k for it though.... |

It appears to be very clean, but I havent seen it in person. It is about 250 miles away from me.

I live in Arkansas, there are a lot of I/Os here to pick from, but wake boats are not easy to find locally.
Are Direct Drive boats losing value compared to V drives? Should I be looking towards V drives or are they probably out of my price range?
Thanks again for all your info! |

v-drives are a more preferrable boat for wakeboarding, so they do tend to sell faster that a d-drive.
V-drives do fetch a bit more money though, so you might have to look into a v-drive older than 2003 to get you in the same price range.
i'm sending you a p.m. |
