I have read with a lot of enthusiasm the Sticky at the top of the board as well as other posts for beginners. I wanted to see if anyone would lend some advice and opinions.

My (soon to be) 9 yr old son currently skis and knee boards. This summer he wants to start wakeboarding. I am trying to get him equipment for his birthday. He is 4"2" and weighs about 60 lbs.

Boards I am currently considering:

2007 Hyperlite Voyager 121 with Vario Bindings (mini)
2007 O'Brien System 119 with Whirly Jr Bindings
2007 Liquid Force Nemesis 119 with Element Kids Bindings

What are your thoughts on these boards and/or bindings?

Also, he wears a size 2 shoe. The Vario and Whirly Jr bindings are for sizes 3-7. Would those be too big for him, or would he be able to tighten them enough now to grow into them later?

Thanks in advance for everyones help!!!!!!!!

JR

My son uses Jr. bindings (3-7) and they seem to tighten onto his size 1 foot just fine.

He rides an older Hyperlite Voyager (05ish). It is a good board for him, as it has 6 fins, allowing for a variety of fin sizes.

I have nothing bad to say about that setup.

Looking for similar help. Practiced some with my 7 yr old on my board, pulling him up off the ground and teaching him to keep leaning back over his back foot. But once I put him in the water, the board was waaaaaaaaaaay too big. I am 6'1 270 lbs and I can ride this board, I think it is a 143?? It was just too bouyant and it kept flipping him over like a fishing bob. i want to pick him one up, as he is excited about doing it and I am stoked about watching him have fun learning. Plus, it would be nice to see somebody wakeboard for more than a couple of minutes before their fat @@@ gets too tired (me). From reading other posts, looks like I want about a 118-121?? with kids bindings 3-7??

Any suggestions would be appreciated. he is about 4' and about 50lbs.

Thanks

My 8 year old has a Hydroslide, this is his 2nd season riding it. It's a 121 and it seems to be a good fit for him. He is about 65lbs. This isn't a GREAT board but it was his beginner board. We're looking to get him the Liquid Force Nemisis for Christmas.

Look at CWB Hinge bindings. They claim to be the easiest to get on and off. My daughter loves hers. ( 9 years on a CWB Bella 124) We also have Hyperlite Spin bindings ( 6 yo on a Voyager 121) and they have worked well.
